Most journalists writing about putative Labour leadership challenges seem entirely unfamiliar with Labour’s rulebook. There is a scope for a challenge just once a year at conference time unless the leader quits.

Ukraine needs long range weaponry from the US to defeat Russian imperialism. But Trump is working hard on a plan to sell out Ukraine, to help Putin and further undermine the security of Europe. The UK and the rest of Europe must wake up to the new realities and increase our support for Ukraine.

The Home Secretary says "we have become the destination of choice in Europe, clearly visible to every people smuggler and would-be illegal migrant across the world"

That is a factually untrue claim: the Home Office shows that the UK is fifth, getting 1/10 claims, while Germany gets 1/5 claims

Tommy Robinson may be opportunistic.

But some of this language being spun by some government spokespeople (such as this palpably false claim in this ugly deportation fantasy) is something 10 Downing Street, the Home Office and Permament Secretaries should get a grip on before tomorrow + Monday

What will happen to children of asylum seekers born here ? Will they be forcibly removed to a country they don’t know now deemed to be safe ? What will happen to older children who came with parents and doing well in education ? Will refugee parents be removed from British partners and children?

Question on Monday

Is it now your principle that every Ukranian refugee in Britain should leave, must leave once it is safe + that they will all be made to leave?

I voted ten years ago on this issue. But nothing was done. There is always a reason for stupid short term procrastination. Who will they blame when the toilets overflow again, the sewage pipes burst, there is a major fire caused by dodgy old wiring or when falling masonry kills someone.
