This just in, statistical analysis is woke ideology now: “We don’t want people in the federal government who feel like it’s their pet project to go persecute police departments based on statistical evidence… The job here is to enforce the federal civil rights laws — not woke ideology.”

While much of the public discourse around the recent growth of the right relies on surveys and polls, we have found that ethnographic methods are key for figuring out the questions and issues that are animating the growth of the right, especially among young people and people of color.

I've been studying the growth of the multiracial right with Dan HoSang, @joelowndes.bsky.social and Micah English for the last few years. This work has included attending far right conferences and rallies, listening to right-wing media (especially podcasts), and interviewing key influencers.

I have heard from multiple sources today that lawyers who provide Know Your Rights presentations in ICE detention centers have been kicked out completely.

These presentations are sometimes the only way people in detention find out details about the process they’re going through.
