My institution forces us to install some "security" software. The software works on my computer occasionally so I can't log on to university websites half of the day and IT cannot fix my problem.

One good thing is that I've my own course website! Happy not to be using LMS.

My most controversial take on this is probably that while I think reproductive freedom should be sacrosanct, I don’t really have any problem with additional taxes on (high income) childless people. Someone gotta pay into the pensions!

Last night I got to see Jafar Panahi after the screening of It Was Just An Accident. Thank you @amcinematheque.bsky.social.

We have the original movie poster of Panahi’s White Balloon from 1995 hanging on our living room wall. Big fan of him! Glad that his visa problem was resolved.

My Apple Watch thinks I slept 2 hr 4 min on average in the last 6 months. Someone please teach these folks about missing data imputation so that they don’t impute 0 hours for missing data.

Terrible indeed. I learned to drive only because it increases your job opportunities in the US. First, as a grad student I wanted to get a fellowship on a different campus and the only way to get there was to drive.

This academic year I am using public transportation which is a surprising event for many Americans. Everyone is asking me how long my commute is. They should instead ask me how calm my nerves are by not being stuck in LA traffic.
