I ADORE Welcome to Night Vale! Haven't listened in quite some time, but I've read all the novels. Do you have a favorite episode or arc?
oh and #PassionPit will randomly be there??? "Take a Walk" is one of my go-to existential dread jams I am VERY excited.
love remembering that I am an adult and I have free will and I can do whatever the hell I want.
going to Sacramento this weekend for one (1) specific panel on indigenous coffee practices because it's uniquely related to the short solarpunk story I'm writing.

yeah it's a 6-hour round trip but it'll be worth it.

Happy #BiVisibilityDay 🥰🥰

Proud to be bi and proud to write compelling bi characters that don't fall prey to sensationalized stereotypes.
Rewatched it for a class on adaptations, and my professor hates it, but I!!! Can't!!!

The second confession will always be worth it, I don't care if it's not book accurate 😭😭😭
2005 PRIDE AND PREJUDICE THEY WILL NEVER MAKE ME HATE YOU!!!
It's more common in other countries, from what I've seen, though I believe the authors won contests or were published in magazines beforehand. Publishers get nervous that even if there's "more" for shorter attention spams, readers will only be interested in one or two of the stories at most.
I've been focusing on polishing/editing a few short stories for magazine submissions, but I'll be back on the blogging grind soon! Targeting a weekly blog/bi-weekly newsletter 😁
She also spoke about the value of writing short stories, especially when strengthening editing and rewriting skills. Definitely validated my current journey lol #writingcommunity #writingadvice #speclit
Asked how she prevents being pigeonholed into one genre. She said to be upfront with your agent and editor; even if marketing/sales gets nervous, if you have your team on your side and fully supportiveof your work, you CAN succeed.

Wonderful advice. Muchas gracías, @silviamg.bsky.social
Nearly cried and shook as I asked my question, but I'm so glad I did 😭😭

Truly, she's been an inspiration to me for years, and I'm so happy to have a dialogue with her, no matter how short. #writingcommunity #speclit #sffwriters
30 minutes away from seeing my favorite author @silviamg.bsky.social at the Libros Festival in LA!!! Dreams come true 🥲🥲

Mainstream media's Charlie Kirk narrative:

Sure, he believed LGBTQ people should be stoned to death, black people are inferior and unqualified, women are only meant to serve men, 10 year old girls should be forced to give birth.

But he meant well.
I agree! Discomfort can lead to further exploration of our identities, and can make us more empathetic people in the long run. Books have been the most vital places where my beliefs and idealogies were tested, and I would hate to see to see collective effort to whittle that down.
Researching for two hours on hyper-niche topics for, maybe, three lines of text in a 6k short story. Truly living the dream.

Yeah, I've seen that trend make its way through readers in the past decade or so, and it's pretty unnerving. Not just as a writer, but as someone who wants to read fiction that explores a vast array of topics. It's giving Fahrenheit 451 unfortunately...
Nothing motivates more than a deadline and the sheer delusion that my hastily edited piece will prevail above all.

Is that not one of the cornerstones of a good writer - that they make the reader pause, think, and sit with their discomfort? If writers self-censored to avoid making readers uncomfortable, SO many stories that have shaped public consciousness would simply not exist.
OSAKA VS ANISIMOVA GOTTA BE ONE OF THE GREATEST MATCHES OF ALL-TIME IDC IDC. ABSOLUTE CINEMA!!
This #ThrowbackThursday, I have a new piece out @medium.com through the lovely Memoirist publication! It highlights a moment in time between my brother and me, and why we developed a love for anime.

Oh man, I truly love dogs! They can be just as contradictory as humans 😆
