Got my copy of the @secondsightfilms.bsky.social 4K release of The Nice Guys, featuring my essay linking Russell Crowe’s character in the film as the spiritual successor of Bud White in L.A. Confidential. Huge thanks to @phillipescott.bsky.social for thinking of me for this one!

Day 23: Favorite noir actor who could steal any scene - Thelma Ritter could steal a scene with just a glance or quip. In Pickup on South Street, she makes a stool pigeon unforgettable. In Rear Window, she’s the moral compass and comic razor. #NoirvemberChallenge

Writing for Paste TV and Movies taught me basically everything I know about being a working critic. Allison Keene, Matt Brennan, and @sinacolad.bsky.social were all incredible teachers/editors, and I was lucky enough to take over the Movies section for 4 (pretty great) years

This shatters my heart. @jacoboller.bsky.social was an incredible editor who let me write some absurd pieces. It’s a place I always told writers to pitch because of how great their movies section was.
Very sad to hear about @pastemagazine.bsky.social shutting down all of its non-music sections today. Will forever be grateful for the opportunity to write everything I did for their Movies section, and especially for the amazing @jacoboller.bsky.social’s trust and support on each of those pieces.
