Got my copy of the @secondsightfilms.bsky.social 4K release of The Nice Guys, featuring my essay linking Russell Crowe’s character in the film as the spiritual successor of Bud White in L.A. Confidential. Huge thanks to @phillipescott.bsky.social for thinking of me for this one!

I also think this is why Dem leadership is too cowardly to address abolishing ICE. But this is also a political loser. Biden went hard on trying to address immigration through force, and it got Dems absolutely nothing. Even if you want to be amoral about it, splitting hairs on ICE is bad politics.

I think guys like Pete are just way too scared of being labeled "soft" on immigration and crime, so they're trying to find some weird middle answer that never works out. Like is the training the problem of sending a bunch of federal agents to Minneapolis, Pete? Would it be okay otherwise?
@petebuttigieg.bsky.social: "We have an ICE agent who should have been trained not to be in front of a vehicle and never to shoot into a moving vehicle, and yet this happened on [Kristi Noem's] watch. The whole POINT of Homeland Security is to make this country more stable and safe."
