I finished one of the most beautiful ARCs last night. The cover grabbed me. Imma read everything this author has now. Look at this!!

📖: The Leaving Room by Amber McBride #blackbooksky 📚
Book cover for The Leaving Room by Amber McBride. The cover features a black girl colored in blue with dark blue braids fashioned in a bun. The background is reminiscent of Starry Night. In the foreground, there are red, yellow, and orange flowers. She's looking up to the sky.

I remember hearing this on the Color show for the very first time.

Looks like there's 4: the original from 1956, this one from the 80s, then the Lifetime one from 2018 and its sequel in 2022.

If bluesky was just a brief, weird experiment that toppled to its hubris, I mean, I guess.

This is how I find out there was a remake in the 80s... Imma watch this one. Loved the original. I didn't watch the most recent remake though.

Started with The Bad Seed (1985). This version feels like a tv show and turns out it was a tv movie. Anyway this little girl is cracking me up.

Last month Judge Diane Goodstein blocked SC from giving DOJ voter data.

Last week Harmeet Dhillon of the DOJ condemned Goodstein's ruling.

Yesterday Stephen Miller called "left wing judges & lawyers" as "terrorists requiring force."

Today Judge Goodstein's home is on fire, investigated for arson.

I don't understand why the backlash. She didn't want it and then changed her mind once she met someone worth it?

I'm sat for any Alien or Predator movie.

I'm currently trying to get out of survival mode before my body actually decides to sit me down more forcefully.

I already have the chronic illness, brain fog, fatigue, gastro issues...

I love when parents talk about their children and you can hear the genuine love and admiration that they have for them.
mitchiechel.blacksky.app
Haha not me just realizing I'm answering questions not meant for me yet. My bad.
mitchiechel.blacksky.app
I still kinda feel a way about "I'm not one of your little friends"

I want my kid to feel safe to talk to me about literally anything. Growing up, I talked to my friends instead of my mom. I learned from fictional parents instead of my own. I had to figure some shit out on my own. I don't want that

7. What is something that your parents told you that didn't age well?
mitchiechel.blacksky.app
This will moreso come in handy if I become a parent. Children are allowed to have an opinion. They can defend themselves and it's not talking back. Especially if I'm saying they did/said something they didn't.

4. What did your parents teach you that you had to unlearn?
mitchiechel.blacksky.app
Healthy relationships with a significant other. Their friendships are all solid, but a partner??

I've built my current relationship brick by brick based on what I wanted to see growing up. It's been real nice having someone I can communicate with. Literally say anything to. There's 0 judgment.

3. What is something your parents never taught you that wouldve made your adult life easier?
mitchiechel.blacksky.app
My mom became friends with my uncle. She wanted to join the military and I guess his brother needed something to do? So my uncle had him train with his brother. His brother is my dad.

She didn't join the military. She had my sister instead. I came along almost 3 years later.
mitchiechel.blacksky.app
I don't talk to my mom. My dad feels more like my uncle, but he cool or whatever.
