Yesterday was a good day.

Even the dolphins thought so.

Stayed up way past my bedtime to capture the lunar eclipse. Clouds cleared up just enough to capture some great shots!

My hot take: municipalities will not pay for fixing burst pipes/water damage. So it makes sense to drip.

But also if no one drips, many, many burst pipes can cause low water pressure AND house damage.

So since either way is a boil notice, I'll stick with no burst pipes and drip.

Big shoutout to @smellyhoustonian.bsky.social for giving me a call and walking me through this. It depends on your water system. For Houston, the best solution is to shut off the water to your house if you can. Otherwise, you do you because you’ll be the one on the hook if pipes 💥.
So here’s a serious question for anyone in extreme cold scenarios. Local government officials almost always say “don’t drip faucets,” but home care experts send emails saying “yes drip some faucets.” What is the advice we are supposed to give? I get the difficulty. But like, we are in a bind.

Some reports of drizzle, sleet, and light rain now north of Houston. Temps still well above freezing but they will drop over the next few hours. Plan to be where you need to be by 7-8 PM.

✅Curse 🤬
✅Start charging telescope
✅Pull out camera
✅Check times. Yes! I can still get kids in bed and come out in time
✅Start moving gear outside

Ahh...back from a week long vacation at Disneyland World. Kids had a great time!

No roadtrip is complete without a mission patch. Had to make sure to include everyone's name.

I found another EV charging station at Johnson Space Center. This one isn't limited to government vehicles and comes with solar!

NASA plans to expand the lunar cargo contracts of SpaceX and Blue Origin, to add "at least" two Artemis delivery missions next decade.

Starship would deliver a JAXA pressurized rover, while Blue would delivery a lunar surface habitat.

And it's my job to look for them.
25 years working on actual spacecraft have taught me that all spacecraft have seemingly obvious vulnerabilities that if exploited could result in catastrophic destruction.

The saying: "Being right at the wrong time is the same as being wrong"

It's true at work but more so with kids.

Me: hey, do you want to go to the park?

3yo: Noooooo. I. DON'T. WANT. TO GO TO. THE. PARK *stamps feet*

45 minutes later when making lunch

3yo: can we go to the park right now?
