Genuinely happy for the Blue Jays and all of Canada tonight. 🇨🇦 Sad for my adopted hometown Seattle Mariners but it was a great #ALCS. Best wishes in the World Series.
Quite concerned at how I’m going to cope without baseball at this point.

Here in Seattle, furloughed NOAA employees were out in the pouring rain cleaning up beaches yesterday, part of a national week of service organized by federal workers who can't do their jobs due to the shutdown.

Story by @heyjohnryan.bsky.social at KUOW, our federally defunded public radio station.

Congrats to @isbscience.org's Dr. Mary Brunkow on this tremendous honor! Fred Hutch is proud to be neighbors with ISB in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood —a global hub of life sciences innovation. It’s inspiring to see such transformative research happening just down the street!
This morning, @isbscience.org's Dr. Mary Brunkow was awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine! Dr. Brunkow shares the award with Fred Ramsdell and Shimon Sakaguchi. Read the press release here: www.nobelprize.org/.../medicine....

What a tremendous honor! Congratulations!

1. I was so grateful to Alex Cooper for having Dr. Jane Goodall on Call Her Daddy earlier this year which brought Dr. Goodall’s life’s work and example to millions of young women who might have heard of her, or recognized her, but may not have known of the depth of her contribution.

🧪 Were you one of the many thousands of STEM students (and mentors) impacted by the sudden change in #NSF #GRFP eligibility last week?

We created a petition to NSF leadership and Congress to reverse the changes - please sign and share your stories here!!

Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin ✨ figured out what stars are made of ✨ when she was just 25. 🔭🧪

Her PhD thesis basically established the Harvard astro department — at a time when Harvard didn't officially allow woman students.

I wrote this little profile to mark the 100th anniversary of her thesis:
Hi Megan - DM me and I’ll see if I can help. First they gotta clinch! 🙏

Happy birthday, Fred Hutch Cancer Center!

On this day in 1975, the dedication ceremony for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center was held at the center's original location in Seattle's First Hill neighborhood, completing a project 10 years in the making.

Yesterday the president demanded that evidence about Covid vaccines be shown to the public. Today @apoorvanyt.bsky.social & I run through some of the studies made public over the past 4+ years that show that the vaccines work. Gift link: nyti.ms/46k17Tq
