Right, that is me done with the Airfix Shackleton. A very good kit, great decals and in the end a good looking plane. A few mistakes and a few things I will do differently next time but overall happy with how it's turned out.

I’m calling this done , there are a couple of figures to paint that but these will have to wait until next week after York IPMS Model Show on Saturday. When I get a moment, I need to get the SLR out and redo these and then photoshop a suitable background #histscalemodels

Won my first game, after 5 lost!
Only the basic game.

Time to try a full game now.
Learning Under Falling Skies.
It's sort of Galaxian meets Missile Comand meets Independence day.
The campaign looks interesting.

Well first side done.
I think that worked.
Some of the gloss varnish got scrapped away when I removed the line below the number, but I think the satin varnish that I will be using tio finish will hide that.

Me positioning each digit on the real thing.
Using a pair of tweezers adjust it by a fraction of a millimetre about 50 times.
Within those 50 movements I get it in the correct position about 3 times. The first two I decide aren't quite right but the third is OK.

😂🥴🤦
Experimenting with the numbers.
So i have a 5 digit number lined up using the lines under the number decal for alignment.
When dry I applied water to the line with a brush, avoiding getting the numbers wet.
Then carefully scraped away the line with the back of a knife blade.
👍

I built my #Airfix 'Saint Louis (1626)' in the fall of 1977 and, besides collecting dust, it survived over the years. Now finally placed in a home-built display case #HistScaleModels.

I've got Under Falling Skies on order, so looking forward to that.

Bought a little track and a cheap Hornby analogue controller to test the Britannia 70000.

And it's a runner!

Had to run it back and forth along the straight track a few times, but eventually it was happy.

I have a diesel loco as well which is younger, but that doesn't go (yet).

Ok, it’s done for now. It’s off to the Aviattic stand at Telford this weekend (if it gets there in one piece 🤞) and I’ll finish the details and do a proper job on the propeller when I get it back.
