It does not matter how many times I holiday in Yorkshire, the first thing I'll always think about are the things I'll eat and the friends I'll see again! 🙌

Milka Biscoff must be the best invention ever. I have loved many Milka chocolates, but this is like drugs. My god. I had to hide it! 😄

Sometimes I look at archive references and wonder how they came about because the people mentioned in these listings should not exist! 😅

This one is for a will of a woman that is either the mother of the person who died in that year or some mysterious lost wife I had no idea of...

If you visit Lisbon and try those locally, maybe turn off notifications for that app? Those custard tarts are magical: you eat one and somehow 3 disappear! 😆

For once, waking up too early on a Sunday paid off: I'm already done with voting, so now I get to enjoy my day in peace. 🙌

On the bright side: at least all Halloween cards are now written and only need to be dropped off at the post office next week.

Then I can get a head start on the Xmas cards and festive seals.

I was convinced that I had counted correctly the number of Halloween wax seals I'd need, but now I'm missing one and I have zero idea if it was a mistake or if I used it for one of the cards I wrote two weeks ago and then forgot to replace it... 🙃

The Mansion House, At Helen's Square, York. Commissioned by the Lord Mayor of York in 2018, so he could sell it for charity, at the pencil stage.

The west tower of Ely Cathedral glimpsed through trees from the park to its south. In the foreground is a wooden fence, a footpath, and a park bench arranged for looking across to the cathedral, with a litter bin next to it.

Told myself I'd not go anywhere this weekend, but it turns out I have to go out on Sunday to vote.

Not that I'm thrilled to put on anything other than pyjamas all weekend, but then I'd rather not let the fascists win.

Went out for my usual night walk after dinner and ran into the woman who gave me Arizona. We ended up chatting for about 20 mins or so as I showed her pictures of Miss A- in all her fluffy splendour. 😆

Iconic is a word that is definitely overused but in the case of the Piece Hall in Halifax that is not the case. Built in 1775-9, it is a rare surviving example of a large-scale, purpose-built cloth hall. Historic England has praised its architectural and historical interest

Day 8: Glass
Another one from Southampton Old Cemetery - the grave of Ethel Maude Newman (1875-1940), Lady Visitor for the Titanic Relief Fund. I'm not sure I like the garish blue glass chips but the story of her work with victims' families is a fascinating bit of social history.
Grave of the Newman family, including Ethel Maude Newman (1875-1940), Lady Visitor for the Titanic Relief Fund, located in Southampton Old Cemetery. A white stone cross set in a square of bright blue glass chips with a white stone border, surrounded by trees. I like to take advantage of the lightning moment when it hits. Never know when it'll happen again! 😆

It's a very silly Xmas card, but I think it'll be perfect.

It is only October but I basically just wrote the best Xmas card of this year, and it hits the tone I wanted to convey too!

Early morning in Shambles, York to celebrate the drawing's birthday. A fine pie shop can be found on the right, by the person with a black top, just about the last butcher type shop still there.

Pencil drawing of a narrow street with a few people looking through shop windows. A group of medieval buildings dominate the centre of the view. Although they have modern shop fronts they retain shelves and fixings from earlier use as butchers shops.

My cooking achievement of today was to nail the noodle sauce. 🙌

There are now a couple of dishes that I'd rather make myself than order from a restaurant. Sadly, noodles aren't on that list, but we'll get there. 😋
