Let's help ensure the safety of our children, friends, and family members this holiday season by securing guns in homes and vehicles, stored unloaded, locked and separate from ammunition.
As you gather with family and friends this week, it's important to ask if all the firearms in the home and in vehicles are securely stored before visiting.

That means guns are stored unloaded, locked, and separate from ammunition. #BeSMART

Our country’s gun violence crisis spares no one—not even those who have put their life on the line to defend us. Elizabeth remembers Robert as a loving father and grandfather, who loved books and baseball—especially the Yankees.

Gun violence against the transgender community and broader LGBTQ+ community is rampant. We cannot accept these attacks as the status quo, including by lawmakers who create policies that reject and endanger trans lives. #TDOR
Today on #TransDayOfRemembrance, we are holding in our hearts the transgender and gender-expansive people who have been killed in the US in the last year—most of them with guns.

“Our state requires a permit and a background check to concealed carry in public, and it requires people to have safety training, too. Because of our strong gun laws, we have one of the lowest gun death rates in the country… A federal concealed carry mandate would undo that progress overnight.”

This holiday season, we’re forking over the facts: Despite being pushed as a response to school shootings, there is zero evidence that putting guns in classrooms protects students. What it does introduce are serious risks for children, educators, and entire school communities. 🧵

Placing the burden on kids to keep themselves safe in the presence of guns is misguided and ineffective. The onus is on adults to ensure kids don’t gain access to guns in the first place. That starts with securing guns in homes and vehicles—stored unloaded, locked and separate from ammunition.
Some states now require public schools to teach kids about gun safety
Along with stop, drop and roll, some states are teaching students to 'Stop and don't touch that gun.'
