A piece from Progressive International focused on the embeddedness of Maria Machado, Nobel Prize winner 🙄, in the #AtlasNetwork.
See what Atlas partners have been doing to Venezuela after Chavez challenged Exxon & its profits, and the neoliberal consensus.

The scenes out of Sydney have police acting in a way that if and when it happens in other countries in the region, we consider it a frightening sign of democracy backsliding. And then the impunity that comes with it, which I'm sure we'll see plenty of!, further compounds that

I think it’s interesting to note Sydney was the only state that descended into a shit show.
Minns put the mayhem out there and followed up with the assistance of the Australian police against the Australian people.

I will not be told that what I see is not what I saw.

This is pathetic and misleading from our national broadcaster. It makes out that the people protesting weren’t peaceful when it was NSW police who were attacking them and being violent. Disgraceful headline from the ABC.
Nine charged after violent clashes between protesters and police
Police said they are currently in the process of charging six more people with a range of offences after the Palestine Action Group protest on Monday night turned ugly.

Step 1. Invite a genocidal war criminal to lecture us on why terrorism is bad

Step 2. Send cops to beat up and arrest peaceful protestors

Step 3. Results?????

I wonder where the lack of cohesion is coming from? The call is coming from inside the house.
Huh. Almost like absolutely everyone saw this coming from the minute the government invited the Israeli head of state and told Sydneysiders they couldn't protest about it.

Another win for Social Cohesion™

Excellent words, great article. Social cohesion isn’t a buzz word, it’s a political tactic.

“If you are othered by powerful groups, you become the victim of cohesion, not the beneficiary; what you get from social cohesion is a punch from an armed official of the state, not protection.”

NSW Police's actions against protesters in in Sydney was about the powerful dictating the terms of free speech — through state-sanctioned violence if necessary.

Herzog is the President of *Israel*. He’s not the “head of state” for Jews.

Indeed, Rob. I said this yesterday. I am supportive of Police despite a family history that gives me chills when they're around... Because I recognise their worth.

But #NSWPolice have broken that trust yesterday. You punched Australians for a foreign power. I can't support that. Ever.
I am a former cop, and until recently I’d support police when they did the right things. No more. If you wear that uniform and give an oath to a foreign king/queen you are no different from the forces that committed genocide in Tasmania. That makes you my enemy and you will be treated as such.
