You can trash the country, the Constitution, and democracy, but hands off the economy.
Just wondering when the Trump insiders will start publishing tell-alls about his dementia, ignorance, and stupidity.

I'm guessing the first one drops ~three months after the midterms.

"Laden with cargo?" Did he have a parrot on his shoulder when he said that?
Rep. Crawford defends Hegseth's second strike on a demolished boat: "They were trying to right that ship. It was still laden with cargo. They were potentially signaling other vessels in the region."

Yeah, making money is something you apologize for in a borough where the median rent is $4600.

Wage growth from September 2024 September 2025 was 0.8%. With a median income of $83430, that's ~$669.
FOX: The numbers that we looked at show that inflation is still higher than wage growth

HASSETT: No. Wage growth is higher than inflation now. I'll send you an email

FOX: Inflation is at 2.9%

HASSETT: Real wage growth is $1,200 over the year. I'll show it to you

She's literally arguing that the Secretary of State can murder anyone anywhere.
Batya might be just fine with a dudetrustme basis for a terrorist designation, but Americans with a functioning moral compass actually expect a plausible public rationale for who is to be treated as a terrorist in our name.

Every election, some people convince themselves that it's possible to beat a Republican in a safe seat.

Sounds like the set up to a Hallmark Xmas film.

Matty raises a good point. The best way to win elections is to do absolutely nothing.

Wait, that's idiotic. Never mind.
Y’all talked too much about the TN-7 race, turned it high salience, juiced turnout, and wrecked Dems’ chances of sneaking in a win.

The lowest gas prices are in OK at $2.40. National average is $3.00.

So yeah, that's unthinkable -- although if/when he trashes the economy, we'll certainly see low prices.
Trump claims that gas prices are "$1.99 in some places of the country. Unthinkable."

This is an excellent thread, and I would add that insulting your readers seems like a very bad strategy even for a paper that hasn't failed as repeatedly and egregiously as the Times.
For my part, I would say that questioning the framing of some Times stories—for example, the highlighting of Trump’s putative emotions or the foregrounding of what he says (even when, as is often the case, what he says is false)—is not an indication that I want my “views validated.”

“It was just an MRI,” he said. “What part of the body? It wasn’t the brain because I took a cognitive test and I aced it.”

Yeah, that's a real quote.

The Atlantic has some excellent writers. It also has some who are clueless and dishonest.
53% of American adults did not get flu vaccine last season. 77% did not get Covid booster. Totally agree that they are all pod people who cannot be trusted to be part of our democratic discussion. So grateful that ace reporters like you are still brave enough to tell the truth.

A lot of people *think* they love hot weather. Some really do, but many don't.
By the way I think the number one thing that the internet underrates in housing choice is that people (insanely, in my view) seem to love hot weather

Somehow, Zimmerman misses the fact that Mamdani DID say Trump was a fascist, and repeated that after the Oval Office visit.

Zimmerman also concedes that Trump is at least fascist adjacent and a vicious racist, but we shouldn't say that because...polls.

Just clown shit.

To defeat Trump, stop calling him names
Calling the president a fascist does nothing to advance the Democrats’ cause — and more of the party's leaders would do well to realize that, Jonathan Zimmerman writes.

The studio version of this popped up on a playlist and I thought “Jesus, who’s on guitar?” then googled it and thought “of course that’s Holdsworth.”

Absolutely love that.

Not sure why everyone is freaking out about this. Illegally invading and occupying a sovereign country for its oil has never turned out badly.
Rep Maria Salazar (R-FL) says Trump is about to invade Venezuela, and the objective is to seize their oil. Remarkable candor, because this seems to be precisely what is going on. bsky.app/profile/atru...
