The US isn't sliding, it's already there.

I also don't live there, and am not 'following commands'.

You seem unable to grasp that you are suggesting an extrajudicial process - until and unless the US goes into rebellion it's not going to happen and people have tried to explain why.
morgalyn.bsky.social
>> unfortunately, doing something about it directly as you propose would require breaking other laws or regulations... which would make anything done forever questionable.

So the state officials don't have any standing to make laws about federal appropriations or budgets. Likewise, state law enforcement can make arrests on federal charges, but along the way that is handed over to the federal system - which is captured.

Impeachment and removal by Congress was the original check, because the founders never imagined a majority of that body would voluntarily give up its purse power. We're in a undiscovered country now.

You're the one who asked for a source for my suggestions the suffragettes are hardly the only case where there was a more violent wing of action that made the reason and space for the nonviolent ones to get a seat at the table.

Not sure where your level of aggression is coming from.

And no one is trying to wish it away? At no point has anyone suggested it would prevent all crime somehow.. I'm not sure why you keep repeating this idea.

Drug deals do respond to market forces. Less market for illegal purchase means less dealers. This has played out in places that legalize.
morgalyn.bsky.social
And yes, any drug, legalized or not, has the capacity to be abused and lead to poor outcomes. This isn't based on whether it's criminal or not, or we would not have alcoholics 🥴

And, actually, self medicating is not always some dire horrid thing. You wouldn't see people having to fight for medical cannabis to treat their epilepsy or help with their appetite during cancer treatment, for instance.

Nothing Ive said implied a right for people to get stoned, nor anything Zach said on the clip. It's about reducing crime, it's about reducing the negative impacts of stigmatization of users that prevent them from getting help. It would have positive impacts on the legal and policing system + tax
morgalyn.bsky.social
But also, pretty sure the party platform also includes strengthening the safety net and helping people not be in a situation where they think the only way forward is illegally selling drugs.
morgalyn.bsky.social
You can also look at the civil rights movement in the US, which had both a militant wing and a nonviolent one.

Like, I don't want to be your history teacher. If you're thinking the suffragettes were a singular example I don't know what to say other than read more.

The proposal is about users, not about dealers. Crime happens, there's never been a legal approach that 💯 prevents a crime entirely. What you can do is make it less appealing or more difficult. Regulating means a clean source is available in safe ways, it really does change the crime rates.
morgalyn.bsky.social
Same way they do things like alcohol and cigs. It leaves making/supplying a criminal offense if it is done outside of the regulation structure.

Christine is a fascist in waiting and probably doesn't realize it. She's advocating extrajudicial state sponsored murder someone she doesn't like.

Ah, it's one of those internet people who don't understand the role of consent
morgalyn.bsky.social
She certainly seemed to try to make it as if Zach had suggested drug vending machines in primary schools or something.

People like this can't pause for a moment and listen to what is actually being said.
morgalyn.bsky.social
Similar movements that had a violent wing and a nonviolent wing have happened throughout history. The nonviolent wing usually doesn't get a seat at the table without the threat of the violent wing looming in the background.

There is more to health than perceived weight, and GLP1 drugs come with problems for some. Dude has access to great care and plenty of money, you don't need to be armchair prescribing him stuff.
morgalyn.bsky.social
They kind of are hoping that, too. Just the stupid and loyal remain.

We need the people who realize how horrible it is to stay and maybe keep the idiots from doing terrible things.

Vaccines are safe and effective.

Autism isn't caused by vaccines, and autistic people and their families deserve our support.

When you want information, ask your doctor.

It's more important than ever for all of us to speak plainly, truthfully, and directly about public health.

NEW: There’s a disaster unfolding in Alaska right now. And no major network is covering it.

The remnants of Typhoon Halong battered western Alaska overnight. Homes, with people in them, have literally been swept into the Bering Strait.

At least 20 are missing. No comment from any federal agency.
