When I can't sleep, I think about how hotcakes and pancakes are the same thing, BUT "hotcake makeup" isn't a thing, AND no one ever says that a popular consumer good "sells like pancakes."
"One more word outta you and I'm opening up my can of Whoop-Ass."
It must have been an epic battle.

My dearest wife,

It is week two of the Siege of Portland, and still these barbarians will not yield to our troops. We have severed the cords of their latte machines but they are making cowboy coffee in their camps, where loud ukulele songs of resistance even now drift in on the breeze.

Alright, so I've been afraid to say this out loud, but I think after today, I can say it: In the first Battle of Los Angeles, the good people of LA County have prevailed. We beat ICE back. 1/

"The Republican Party wants to pull YOUR teenage daughter's pants down in the middle of gym class if they think she's too good at lacrosse, this is vile and depraved and only the start of their intrusive government overreach" should be the party line and I don't think it's a heavy lift
why do transphobes have a fucking monopoly on "having some concerns about fairness", can i have a concern about the fairness of normalizing kids getting their genitals inspected by strange adults for reasons entirely unrelated to health or hygiene as a prerequisite for peewee soccer?

Being in a sea of humanity, all of you cheering for more humanity, is an incredible feeling and will bolster your resolve for the endurance march that will be the next several years. We do have each other, and that's a lot. For love, we'll give it a shot.
relatedly: if you’re worried about this, i strongly encourage you to seek out and attend a rally wherever you live on labor day. it will give you a much better perspective on how many of us there are vs. how many of them in a way that isn’t just abstract math.
one thing to remember about "ICE is going to occupy Democrat strongholds" is that ICE, if it hires to capacity, will employ about 26k people by the end of 2026, which is 1/3 smaller than the NYPD, which is not a large enough police force to occupy New York City itself.
I just read THE SORROWS OF YOUNG WERTHER by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, translated from German by Thomas Carlyle and R. D. Boylan.

"...[T]his masterpiece catapulted the author to the forefront of the literary movement known as 'Sturm und Drang.'"
Speaking of vestiges of the past....

Once upon a time Seattle had TWO daily papers.
A street corner in Shoreline.

Shoreline's streets were laid out by a mysterious stranger with glowing red eyes. He smelled of sulfur.
This old, forgotten street sign is still legible, barely, but it's obscured and drivers can't see it.

I'm drawn to hidden vestiges of the past.
