This. Wish people will point out Data centers are all the same. Exactly AI or otherwise. Many are mixed BUT then we get back to the issue from 10 yrs ago. Data centers are a drain on communities and resources and should have been regulated for their strain on both over a decade ago.
umm...the ai data centers shouldn't exist AT ALL

WDYM put them in flyover states??? do they have a separate atmosphere idk about?!?

y'all are stupid.

Kinda feel like AI isn’t doing what was promised. It’s being packaged as essentially a code base or assistant to slap an UI on and call done. Where’s the revolutionary medicine or financial models or inventions.

Sometimes I wonder if we'll realize the way we constructed the internet and silicon chips wasn't the best way but just the way that we found first. We REALLY need more talent in the material sciences.

This is just one example of how government technologists were working to improve digital services for the American people. Folks at USDS, 18F, and across our partner agencies were in the midst of many other projects like this when DOGE interrupted our work.
I’m thrilled to see State in the spotlight for this achievement. Also surprised to see no mention of the U.S. Digital Service — a key partner in the approach that @bzcohen.bsky.social celebrates.

USDS ➡️ DOGE in Jan & has since lost much of the talent behind this work.

America Has Pulled Off the Impossible. It Made Getting a Passport Simple.
Washington is not exactly known for tech innovation. So how did a team of bureaucrats put their stamp on a new program for renewing passports online?

DOGE cut federal IT contracts. Don’t count on the government to pick up the slack
The Department of Government Efficiency is getting rid of outside vendors in favor of in-house digital services. But without the necessary talent, can the plan succeed?

You said you want Gov Efficiency but fire the team in place doing it. Make it make sense.

They say AA and DEI needed to go away and we should only be doing merit based qualification and then fire gov employees like 18F.org because they were “liberal“?

Hypocrisy as far as the eye can see.

Pass it along. Everyone should hear this.
18F was doing exactly the type of work that DOGE claims to want – yet we were eliminated shortly after midnight. Read our letter to the American people:

My father grew up under segregation. He drank from "Colored" drinking fountains as grown man. The Loving decision that legalized interracial marriage went into effect just one year before I was conceived by my parents. Guys... I'm not that old. We can still feel its breath on our heels.
The little girl in this photo? Ruby Bridges? The first Black child to integrate the schools in New Orleans? The inspiration for Norman Rockwell’s painting?

She has a podcast on Spotify. She’s younger than my MAMA. She’ll probably be at Mardi Gras again this year.

So miss me with the nostalgia.
