What a beautiful day to be at sea undertaking survey work on two sites for Historic England.

We have teamed up with Andy from Tritonia who is sharing his expert knowledge with us. Intern Daisy is also out with the team gaining new skills and experiences. We can't wait to see the results!

1/2 As part of the ongoing work by OWEKH (Offshore Wind Evidence and Knowledge Hub) to improve the offshore EIA process, we have been reviewing Evidence Notes on Marine Archaeology, providing input to strengthen proportionality and efficiency in the EIA process.

A bit off the beaten track today as @msdsmarine.bsky.social work takes me to the #MaritimeHeritageTrust at #HermitageMoorings. A fabulous place to meet!

We are delighted to see Mona Offshore Wind Farm has secured consent this week having played a small part by providing advice about the marine historic environment. This is just one of several offshore wind farms with which we are currently involved, all at various stages in the consenting process.

25th July, people. It's going to be AWESOME!! 🤩🤩

Dive into the past with us at @romanpalace.bsky.social for the #FestivalofArchaeology !

We’ll be there with hands-on fun for all ages, showing how maritime archaeology brings the stories of sunken ships back to life.

25th July, 10.30 – 4

FoA is a free event, entry to the Palace is standard rate
An elderly man wearing a virtual reality headset sits in front of an outdoor display about maritime archaeology. Behind him, a smiling woman stands at an information booth with educational posters about shipwreck sites. A screen next to her shows details on how to get involved in diving and archaeological activities. The setting appears to be an outreach or educational event. A young girl with blonde curly hair listens intently to a man in a green shirt at a display table. The man is holding an artefact and explaining it to her. Around them are plastic boxes with archaeological items and a printed sign with information. Other visitors can be seen in the background at what appears to be an outdoor educational event. A smiling woman helps a person try on a large yellow and black commercial diving helmet at an outdoor event. The person wearing the helmet is seated, and the woman is adjusting it from behind. In the background, there is a grassy area, a tall streetlight, and a banner advertising ice cream. The setting appears to be a demonstration or open day activity. A woman is viewed from above while working at a lab bench. They are using fine tools to handle a small artefact under a magnifying glass or protective screen. The workspace is equipped with tweezers, containers, bottles, and a task lamp, in a archaeological lab setting.

We have been back out this week sampling the protective markings applied in 2023 to help us understand the longevity of the markers. Thanks to Historic England and RCE for funding this project. Thanks also to Hampshire Police who visited us and checked all the relevant permissions were in place.

We can honestly say this is the best First Aid course we have ever attended as Ken was able to share his knowledge of first aid and relate it to the world of archaeology and the marine environment too.

Jack and Evie, the office dogs, even got a little involved!
msdsmarine.bsky.social
Last week half our team did their First Aid at Work course (the other half are doing it next month) taught by the brilliant @fenken.bsky.social
Ken is a marine geophysicist at MSDS Marine but also volunteers for the East of England Ambulance Service and is a First Aid at Work instructor.

Here’s a brief overview of the project!

We are at #CIfA2025 today and tomorrow to talk about the 21CAP project we are working on with CIfA. Come and say hello!
msdsmarine.bsky.social
We think @fenken.bsky.social is awesome volunteering in this way and are dead proud to have him as one of our team (and we are pretty relieved he is now in charge of all our First Aid at Work needs too)!

On call today, so I thought I would remind you that you can volunteer as a Community First Responder. It is not difficult, it is incredibly rewarding and it genuinely saves lives.

Contact your local ambulance service for details of how to apply.
