I have made a Maritime Archaeologists Starter Pack. I need to go through my follow/followers lists to populate it more fully, but please share and let me know who I should be including!

I was once on an excavation with a load of classicists. There was a sculpture called the Emperor's Triumphal Relief and not one of them giggled.

I only found out about this now. I haven't watched QT in years because of the blatant bias of Fiona "he only hit her once" Bruce.

But this is disgusting. People aren't interested in an elected representative pleading guilty to taking bribes from Russia. Really?🤔

Ah, happy 88th anniversary of the day Oswald Mosley tried to sell fascism to Liverpudlians – and someone concussed him with a brick
A man in a suit stands at a microphone which has been mounted on the roof of a van. There are loudspeakers at his feet, and a building behind him. He has an arm raised, and is flinching as projectiles are hurled at him, because he's a fucking Nazi

All about the light this morning.
Sunrise behind two transmission towers in a flat landscape. There is low cloud to the south.

Buying stuff to get into a new hobby IS actually doing the new hobby.

I am assured of this.

My brother was a community dentist on Orkney. When we we kids he was always fairly prone to seasickness. I always wondered how he fared on journeys like that (he would never say).

Although I stand by my glaikit* blancmanges comment.

* Glaikit - a Scots word similar to vacuous, but not so complimentary...

So many unkind comments, so little time...

In a lifetime of hanging around with total weirdos, I have encountered very few that would fit into whatever bit of the Venn diagram these glaikit blancmanges occupy...

Mental ill health is frequently caused or exacerbated by entrenched workplace cultures of overwork and bullying.

Until all UK workplaces are forced to take their statutory workplace mental health & safety duties seriously, people with mental ill health will be unable to return to or remain in work.

Here's a picture of a sow feeding 13 (yes, thirteen) one day old piglets, for anyone who needs it.
It is what I say it is. A large sow lying on her port side, feeding thirteen tiny, one day old piglets. She is a dirty pink colour, the piglets are black and pink. She is lying on straw. There is the entrance to a brick sty behind. Photo taken from mummy pig's starboard quarter.

Gallus! Love Jacques Brel. That's one of my favourite Velvets tunes too. They fit together perfectly.

And the fascists in my country who long to be just like the fascists in your country want to convert our health service, which is free at the point of delivery, into a health service just like yours. And people say they will vote for that!

Cute cat though. Here's my cute cat.
A fat tabby cat called Smartie lies on the closed keyboard of an early 20th century upright piano. His front paws are crossed and if you know him, you will know that looks in his eye means the next person to come within range is going to lose a useful quantity of claret.

He is beautiful, though. And he and I have an understanding.

As a diver (well, ex diver these days) I was more than slightly alarmed by the lack of coordination of the activities of the vessel and the dive team.

So if there’s a peace deal in Gaza, does that mean that the whole Netanyahu clique can now go on trial in The Hague?

Henry Kendall was the architect. Mid 19th century

The main house is quite impressive too, if that is your thing. Most of what you see outside is by Henry Flitcroft and is mid 18th century, but it is a palimpsest of lots of older and newer work, like most country houses.
Wimpole Hall. A symmetrical building with three projecting bays in the middle under a pediment, flanked by two bays either side, with two flanking wings of five bays each. In red brick with limestone dressings.

For the avoidance of doubt, I have danced here
Gateway to the stable block at Wimpole Hall. Red brick arch, square in plan, with a brick and stone clock tower and cupola over it. This is a wide angle shot showing the cast iron columns a d arcade within the stable block itself.

Well that's a pretty uncomfortable thread. Excellent work by @jacksapoch.bsky.social here.

NEW: Since October 2023, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit has released dozens of 3D animations illustrating alleged Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iranian sites

The style is now unmistakable: satellite zoom-ins, black & white wireframes, and red-textured houses - a new visual language of war
