I never used the term "Negotiated Meaning" back then, it wasn't in my lexicon. But it is the thing which gets me to run from most religions I encounter. Or at least keep them at 3x arm's reach.

That church where I was studying for missionary work, had a blue verse bible with a corresponding text called Questions and Answers that redirected frequent questions back to the blue verses. If a different verse contradicted the blue verse, the blue verse took authority and the other disregarded.

I came to the conclusion, at 16, studying in my youth group to do missionary work, that you can justify anything with the bible if you look at it narrowly enough, or even broadly in some instances.

It's the book that is cited the most by those who've barely read it.

"I think the normal amount for the fact my government wants me dead. So, nothing unusual."

I think the first question of any debate should be: "Could you be wrong?"
There's more to it... but simply put, anyone who says no is rarely worth the time and breath.
Mostly, those peeps are just looking for false legitimacy.

Yeah. Similarly I had a guy I was working with ask me "What do you mean by clean up the data file before submitting?" and I spent the next 10 minutes showing him what I look for in the file.
He didn't realize extraneous commas in a CSV file and random cells outside of key data, caused issues.
