I can't believe it! The Gov is reviewing state pension age; this could mean we're forced to work till we're much older 😑. Right now it's just being reviewed, so I hope we can create enough outcry to get them to back down. I've signed a petition against it, will you join me + add yr name? 38d.gs/3jdr
Sign the petition: Say NO to upping the retirement age
Want to retire into your 70s? A Government review of the state pension age could see all of us forced to work longer. Yet again targeting ordinary people to plug funding gaps, instead of the mega-rich...

Finally, if you can get through the paywall this piece from earlier in the week illuminates how the experience above is just a tiny part of an industrial-scale, global, and sector-wide catastrophe of AI and citations to nonexistent papers in academic publishing bsky.app/profile/mile...
Academics and technologists are sounding the alarm about a growing crisis in scholarship as we know it: AI-generated citations of nonexistent papers that have infested real journals. Despite being fake, the sources are widely assumed to be authentic the more they appear in published literature.
AI Is Inventing Academic Papers That Don't Exist -- And They're Being Cited in Real Journals
Academic articles from authors using large language model are creating an ecosystem of fake research that threatens human knowledge itself.

So far Zack Polanski is the only political leader of a mass membership party to come out in support of the hunger strikers. Meanwhile the Justice Secretary refuses even to reply to MPs demanding an urgent meeting to avert what could well be the tragic deaths of unconvicted prisoners. Shameful.
Solidarity with the hunger strikers.

It is an egregious violation for them to be held on remand - without trial or conviction.

All for protesting against a genocide. Shameful.

Then he gets chance to represent them in HOP and doesn’t turn up.. shocked I tell you 🤷🏼‍♂️

Donald Trump has openly sought to interfere in European politics, including the UK.

The Government must expand its foreign interference investigation to include the US administration. Our politics must be free from outside influence, wherever it comes from.

Excellent article. Well worth a read.
Key point is this: " Instead of authoritarian regimes crumbling because their captive subjects craved freedom, it will be demoralised citizens of failing liberal societies turning to strong leaders for order."
