This is the problem with JW!
Trauma recovery is so important, therapy and deconstructing your beliefs is a must when you break free from a cult.

I grew up with undiagnosed ADHD, scared of my dad, scared of God, scared of failing. Trying to make sense of a past that feels like a movie I never auditioned for.

When they hold you hostage with fear. When they use your faith as a weapon to control you that isn't love that's abuse.
When they tell your friends and family that they will be shunned too if they continue to have a relationship with you. That isn't love that coercion.

I left a cult it was the hardest thing I have ever done. I started to live as a free American with the ability to voice my opinion and use my vote to have my voice heard. Then came along a cult that is trying to silence my voice again.
I have no choice but, to stand up again.

It's probably not just me as a JW I hated the phase the victims and families are in our thoughts and prayers.
Now I left a cult I hate this even more. You are the leaders of the country do something. Your thoughts and prayers aren't helping anyone.

Well today is the 1st day of fall and I spent the evening celebrating the end of summer and the beginning of fall.

Honestly I finally feel like am in a healthy place.
I am not even mad anymore I don't have time or energy for that. I feel bad for the everyday people trapped in this cult. I will continue to be on exjw subreddit offering support and advice to people trying to leave.

Once you realize you're in a cult and the word sin is used to control you and tell you what's right and wrong. See if the Bible was real I honestly think Satan is right and God (JW version specifically in my experience) is a horrible example of a loving father.

I am proud to say I am an ex jw.
I thought I had to dissociate to be whole, I felt I wasn't strong enough to leave.
But, turns out that if you stop believing then you are no longer a JW you are free.
When kids stop believing in Santa they don't have to write him a letter and tell him.
