Its really easy to get emotional about how we can almost take for granted what generations fought and died to dream for.
While it's not entirely Obama's merit, but rather the conclusion of decades of activism and hard work, it's very clear that his personality and aura helped a lot.

On the plus side this is, as it has turned out, a rare win. When everything else is going to shit and fascism and racism are making huge comebacks, the speed and (apparent) permanence with which e.g. gay marriage has become both socially and institutionally accepted is a welcome exception
