This duet cover of Radiohead's "Creep", between a son and his Shastriya Sangeet classically trained mother, is the mash-up I didn't know how much I needed in my life. Totally spontaneous sobbing may have taken place.

The fact that the KCSIE2026 draft on statutory responsibility for #Safeguarding children makes explicit use of Cass for the “gender questioning” children section is absolutely chilling. I urge all educators to respond to the consultation and reject its use. geogramblings.com/2026/02/14/k...

While responding to the #KCSIE2026 consultation is exhausting, it's a necessary act. As a trans climate science communicator deeply invested in safeguarding children, I needed to voice what I think where it’s strong, where it risks harm, and what I’m asking you to support.
Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2026 Consultation: An exhausting but necessary process
Reflecting on an exhausting experience responding to the KCSIE 2026 consultation, emphasising the need for safeguarding reform. Key concerns include the treatment of "gender-questioning" students and the omission of climate-related issues.

Concerning when EA knows of a site and says it is local council’s responsibility but local councils have no process or strategy. In the early 80s it was completely normal for farms to have ‘dumps’ in dingles and gullies. Bound to impact ground water eventually.
A great but worrying piece of investigative journalism:

High levels of the banned cancer-causing “forever chemical” Pfos have been discovered in rivers and groundwater at 25 sites in Cumbria and Lancashire.

And, according to one resident, the EA has been testing because of "concerns" for 35 years.

I have some bad news. One, if you need to use ChatGPT for your graduate application letter, you are not ready for graduate school.

Two, no, not "everyone is doing it" and those who don't do it aren't "losing out." ChatGPT is not an advantage.
An impressive number of graduate applications this year used the phrase “curiosity-driven approach” 🤔

When we trawled data on excess nitrate & phosphate pollution (key drivers of algal blooms) we found agriculture was the primary source in rural areas, sewage in urban areas. As Chowns says, to save our rivers, we need to tackle both.
