hannig, imperf. biyhannig

to freeze, be janky (of computer), from English "hang" apparently

E.g.:

ek-kombyūtar biyhannig

The computer is freezing up/being janky.

I think it’s only (some West) Germans who really and truly believed it was otherwise. The allies of the US knew that, the enemies as well. I grew up in the Levante and lived and studied in the US. The contradiction between the US as the bellicose superpower and the democratic state is a challenge.
Trump is exacerbating a paradigm rather than shift it. US free-world imperialism has been transactional since 1945. Receiving America's "gift of freedom," according to Mimi Nguyen, came with a debt - the debt of gratitude and the obligation to endure the empire´s prerogative to use violence.

The other America! Thanks @honeckmischa.bsky.social for sharing this!
Thomas Nast, an immigrant born in my hometown of Landau, drew this cartoon in 1869 to celebrate America as a pluralistic multiracial nation. Nast was a proud Republican. Embracing this vision in Trump’s America might have gotten him deported.

I'm not an AI abolitionist, as much as I'd like to see most data centers sprayed with firehouses and the private equity class pushing generative AI arrested. I know that it has uses. I know LLMs can be transformative.

Capitalism demands universal adoption to maximize profits. That's the bullshit.

I’m not a zionist and I don’t support Israel’s existence. That has nothing to do with my point that it’s not necessary to specify that someone is Jewish when it has nothing to do with the issue being discussed.

OK, *ongoing* thread of books to read on Palestine. Some recent, some not at all so recent.
I’ve been thinking on this as I read more. Also how the settlers trigger response that the army uses to validate excessive force.

Also, I’ve concluded 100 Year War on Palestine. Do you have other suggestions for reading? If you don’t mind. I’d actually love a thread if you do. Not that you have to.

It's not like we don't have decades of evidence that solidarity works in fighting racism and antisemitism. Unless of course fighting antisemitism isn't the main objective here.
It's worth reading Mark Mazower's latest book "On Antisemitism: A Word in History" , especially the chapter where he shows that racial hatred and antisemitism declined the fastest in US history when Jewish and Black civil rights groups worked hand in hand.
A time of rising fascism in the US, when ICE is explicitly linking its abuse of people of color to the antisemitic Great Replacement conspiracy, is exactly the wrong time for American Jewish organizations to be turning away from building alliances. And yet: www.timesofisrael.com/jewish-orgs-...

Benito is a threat b/c he makes art so alluring and enjoyable you want to understand everything about it and then you end up learning about sugar and slavery and colonialism and the Taínos and Hawaii and then you probably have some thoughts of your own, and that's why art is powerful and dangerous
