BREAKING: Rodger supports the occupation of the 6 Counties by the British Empire, standing in the way of a United Ireland 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
been getting a lot of questions about this. some quick answers:
—I am IN FAVOR of the current borders of Europe's nation-states
—I bear ABSOLUTELY NO ALLEGIANCE to Kaiser Wilhelm or the Emperor of Austria-Hungary
—I have NO plans to assassinate ANY archdukes
Hope this clears things up
I need to be clear that I am NOT!

Nothing destroys religion better than a state church, and nothing protects it better than secular government. Counterintuitive but true
The data is stark. Iran: 47% report losing their religion, regime officials openly worry about godlessness. Turkey: atheism jumps from 2% to 10% since the 2000s. When religious practice signals political power rather than virtue, the public stops equating piety with morality.

a weird outcome of the 2024 election is that Trump has pushed the dial so far on so many issues that if you give an honest, sober assessment of what Harris would have possibly done, you come off as if you're saying she'd of been the greatest President in American history and not mid-average

Christie to Rubio in 2016
Warren to Bloomberg in 2020
Lander to Cuomo in 2025

All had their factors, but the Kamikaze Maneuver has had success. I hope if Pritzker/Moore/whoever never get off the ground, they can at least accept this principal with Newsom.
I think Lander has shown us two things:

1. At its best RCV can lower the temperature because you have to appeal to your opponents core supporters.

2. Kamikaze Campaign tactics continue to have a strong record.

- 20% of the Caucus (ie 10 Senators) can call an Unscheduled Meeting of the caucus.
- The formal rules don't seem to have a particular procedure for removal, but I do hope a majority vote of the Caucus would convince him to resign.
- would be a secret ballot for leadership
Whats the procedure here to boot him. How many needed to at least force a vote of the caucus, I suppose that's step one.

Serialized storytelling is great and has produced great episodes of television. But sometimes the quest for the next "Ozymandias" kills any hope of the next "Across the Stars" or the next "Not What He Seems" comes at the price of the next "Puhoy."

It rules how all these ancient sites got turned into fortresses in the Middle Ages. I hope someone turns the Lincoln memorial into a castle.
The Torre Delle Milizie above Trajan’s forum was one of Rome's most defensible positions during the Middle Ages. This where three cardinals hoped to hold out against Henry VII’ demands to be crowned emperor in 1312, whilst below them the city turned into a slaughterhouse. #history 🧵(1/4).

Solar will save us is my most hope pilled position. I just hope the world isn't leashed to China as a supplier.
you're living through a technological revolution, but it has nothing to do with web 3.0, cryptocurrency, the metaverse or even AI. Solar+storage are taking over the energy grids everywhere on the entire planet and will make fossil fuels extinct.
Climate laggard Poland?

Not anymore - coal used to provide 95% of Polish electricity.

Last year it was 53.5% with wind & solar providing almost one quarter.

Superman may get the title "last son" but as the past however many years have shown, he is a son of Kansas. Kara is the last True Kryptonian. The last one who remembers.

I'd say that's an aspect that isn't explored enough but I'll be honest I haven't read enough Supergirl to say that.
The film version of her is predominantly based on the limited run "Woman of Tomorrow", which has a more melancholic version of the character, who under an heroic surface is aching with the grief of losing her planet. So I would assume her drinking and partying is in part a coping mechanism.

During the GM strike it was the neutral and even pro-labor attitudes of Murphy and Roosevelt that allowed the UAW to win. My thesis of all American labor history is that unions only win when they neutralize the normal corporate-government alliance you very much see today.

There was a YA Dystopia series a while back where as a compromise after a Civil War abortion was illegal but you could have your kid killed at 13 if you wanted. At the time I thought it was insulting to both sides of the abortion debate but looking at the modern GOP...
This is the endgame: if they’re angry enough that the kid came out “wrong” conservatives want a free pass to do an Amazon return. On their own kid.
A MAGA freak in Texas murdered his own daughter in cold blood after they had an argument about Trump.

A grand jury in the Dallas area then *declined to indict him*, and he has not yet faced charges.

Seems like many Texans believe a man has the right to kill his own child for disobedience.

The thing about the Catholic Church is that it is very old and it is very large and it takes itself very seriously and so it is always going to defy our tidy human-lifespan bound judgements in good and bad ways.
the catholic church has been such a regressive force for most of my life that I'm having a hard time fitting 'we have an american pope and his people are important in fighting deportations' into my world view

That's the thing with Stancil. "Why don't you just block" is a valid question for people who can't stand him but for him blocking does very little against the tide. (Applies more generally to harassment as well)
Go look at his post history! It’s the sort of obsession that used to merit a restraining order. But since it gets rewarded and not punished, I have to spend large portions of my time dealing with obsessed psychos all the time. It doesn’t matter if I block them, they keep at it forever

I don't actually think this is true, I think people on social media talk a lot about average dipshit tankies because they're on here too, they often disproportionately shape the discourse, and they're usually in your mentions sending you death threats and calling you slurs.
big chunk of online left-of-center types took "intent doesn't matter" re: racism etc & allowed it to metastasize into "actual ability to wield power doesn't matter, ergo the average dipshit tankie and Guy Breaking The Leahy Law To Facilitate Genocide are not just morally but practically equivalent"
