On a purely factual point, Trevor Phillips’s column in the Times misrepresents our reporting in casting doubts on claims that there were more boys called Patel than Smith at Dulwich in 1980 (we did not report 1976 as the year it occurred). 1980 roll shows 13 Patels and 12 Smiths.

One good thing about having a body clock which wakes you ridiculously early is that you revisit a lot of films in the dark hours. If you have not seen this masterpiece, it would be impossible for me to recommend it highly enough. The performance Kim Hye-ja gives is just amazing.

This was Christmas in (I think) 1981, when the snow famously came down square-shaped. Trying to build a snowman in our garage forecourt. And no - I’m not smoking a tab. Just an old photo with a scratch.

Immigrants have helped, improved and enriched this country more than the likes of Farage and Yaxley-Lennon could do in a thousand lifetimes, so it would be quite nice if the government didn’t pander to feeble dickheads like them with rhetoric like this.

I really like Neil Robertson, although my one encounter with him still brings me out in hives. I was about as hungover as it's possible for a breathing human to be, and when I saw him walking out of Costa with a coffee and a cake, I steadied myself on a rail and said "Neil Robertson".
