オスはニセの針で身を護る。

ハチのオスは毒針をもたないが、ツチバチ類のオスは腹部末端に3本の棘（偽針）をもつ。キオビツチバチのオスをアマガエルに与えたところ、87%が防衛に成功したが、棘を除去すると防衛成功率は27%に低下した。

蛾が好んで訪れる花を解明！

兵庫県下で、植物34種に夜間訪花するガ類245種を記録し解析。結果、蜜源の深い（花筒が長い）植物には、口吻の長いスズメガ類が、蜜源の浅い花には口吻の短いガ類が訪れる傾向があった。
