In The Labyrinth of Time, entering the Ziggurat without a lantern is supposed to show a black screen. However, the developers put in the wrong filename for the black screen, so it fails to render, showing a black screen instead

17 years together my wife is realizing why half my friends do what they do

I can see this being useful for something like advance wars or a roguelike where every single tile has exactly one mechanically significant type, and it's extremely obvious what it is.
I could also see it working for something like golf, where you want tight fidelity despite being tile-based.

This system works really well when combined with strong layers.
Here the water and dirt are in layer 0, grass layer 1, trees layer 2 and so on.
They stack similar to how they would in 3d.
If you have to render in a single layer, though, there are better autotile systems like the one in RPGMaker.

A bargain at $40, tbh. Honestly, some top tier fonts across the board. Ive used both Sins and Tape for various projects/sketches since I picked them up.

I went to art school because I thought I wanted to be a traditional artist, but I was making money from pixel art which landed me a UX gig when mobile phone interfaces were still pixelated.
The programmers would complain my designs were too complex, so I started coding them.
