Prepping a new class for next term called “Data Workflow Automation” about building reproducible, adaptable data science / ML pipelines, versioning artifacts, etc., also with a bit of MLOps. V. excited!

In discussions of AI and jobs, we put too much emphasis on the technology and not enough on the corporate leaders who are actually making decisions about what they want to do with AI & its implications.

This is a sad but correct decision. Thank you, @python.org, for committing to your values when it matters.
I would love a list of organization that have made this kind of value-driven decision to donate to.

as a condition of funding, we were asked to affirm that we wouldn’t undertake any diversity, equity, and inclusion work, whether or not we used the government funds to do so. The PSF simply couldn’t agree to that statement,

Does AI get bored?
I gave them nothing to do, just to see what happens
one thing — they devolve into a repetitive “collapse” state, I guess you could call it boredom
but some break out into math & poetry on their own, I didn’t expect which ones that would be

Every few months on BlueSky there is a hot story of how AI is going to go away soon: model collapse, walls to AI development, legal issues, now financial bubbles.
But even if there was a bubble that popped, AI would not go away: 10% of humans use it weekly, increasing use cases in companies, etc.

Any European startups need this data? It’s about to go up in smoke.
Head of NASA Sean Duffy intends to destroy a satellite that collects key data on carbon dioxide and plant health, by causing it to burn up in the atmosphere. The U.S. Dept of Agriculture and private agriculture firms use the data to forecast crop yield, drought conditions and more.
Why a NASA satellite that scientists and farmers rely on may be destroyed on purpose
The Trump administration has asked NASA staffers to draw up plans to end at least two satellite missions that measure carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, according to current and former NASA employees.
