Join us to celebrate All Her Lives: Nine Stories by Ingrid Horrocks. The book will be launched by Emily Perkins.

🌿 Thursday 9 October, 6pm
🌿 Unity Books Wellington
🌿 Free event – all welcome!

Cover: Sarah Wilkins

The cover of the book shows a young woman in a white shirt, green tie and red skirt sitting down and looking thoughtful. Text around the cover says: 'Join us for the launch of All Her Lives. Thursday 9 October 6pm. Unity Books Wellington.' The logos of THWUP and Unity Books are in the corner. A quote in red text on a green background: 'All Her Lives is a reckoning. A stunning tour de force of women’s lives across centuries, continents and political movements. The collection reads as a protest song book, calling through the ages for change, revolution and peace. Horrocks is one of the most powerful storytellers of our time and All Her Lives is the author's most triumphant work.’ Laura Jean McKay

These are the sorts of things you can do if you're serious about art, creativity, and growing an economy

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

This “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” propaganda is demonstrably a false narrative when all the ways to pull yourself up have been deliberately and systemically removed by people who have never had to worry a single day in their entire lives about where their next meal is going to come from.

4300 teens will be thrown off jobseekers as youth jobs disappear across the country.

More stress, more homelessness, more domestic violence, more poverty, more crime, more prisoners, more profit for PPPs - National Party's back on track is right on track #nzpol

Young people aren’t owed a living but landlords are owed accommodation supplement & subsidies, & employers are owed WfF so they don’t have to pay workers a decent wage & shareholders are owed $$ even if it means 120,000 households can’t afford electricity. #nzpol

This is a bloody good point. As of November 2026, your 18/19yos will be too old for you to claim working for families, but you'll still be expected to support them if they're out of work in an economy that has haemorrhaged youth jobs under this govt.

Taking away with one hand and slapping you too.

My son is 18 next month, we will lose our working for families for him and he won’t be eligible for the dole cos we earn too much. So by turning 18 we as a family are worse off….

Totally. "Deterrence", she says. Us sane, anti-IMC pacifists all know that really means profitable provocation, in cosy kahoots with the $ociopathic egobro's.

Elon Musk’s Twitter feed is the farthest-right, most hateful and disinformation-forward social media feed I’ve seen of any person who doesn’t openly identify as a member of a hate group. It’s toxic at a level that in any other era would have led to *anyone* in business ceasing all dealings with him.

Later, I asked Jane if she liked poetry. The convo went something like, "Oh yes, I have written a few poems". Me: "Have you thought about putting them in a collection?" J: "No, but my son might do that". Me: "Would you like a copy of my book?" (pressing it into her hands, lol). J: "Oh, yes please!"

Luxon says the abduction of New Zealand citizens by Israel is why they advise people not to travel to Gaza?

We advise people not to travel by sea to Gaza because we expect them to be illegally abducted and detained at sea by our so called ‘friends’?
