Back to classic Doctor Who and #nowwatching Destiny of the Daleks (1979). Mary Tamm has been replaced by Lalla Ward as Romana (nooooo....), and I imagine we'll be getting into some Dalek hijinks.

Ok, you have to see this. Everyone must see this. Incredible scope and ambition for a film that must have cost literally hundreds of Deutschmarks to produce, and an absolute tsunami of gore. Exploding heads, bursting chests, fountains of blood, and a brutal football to the crotch. Unmissable.
#nowwatching Premutos: The Fallen Angel (1997). A man resurrects Premutos, the first of God's fallen angels, and things take...a dark turn. A German splatter film, hopefully somewhat more accomplished than the likes of Violent Shit. #horrorsky

After a long break, I'm back to my watch through of classic Doctor Who. #nowwatching The Armageddon Factor - The last story of Tom Baker's fifth series.

Quite a unique bit of folk horror. The story is quite convoluted, and at times I was slightly lost in the narrative, but I enjoyed the blurring of the lines between myth and reality. The whole thing resolves in quite an unusual way, and it's worth watching for the alpine scenery alone!
#nowwatching Sennentuntschi: Curse of the Alps (2010). A mute woman shows up in a remote alpine village, and the local policeman embarks on a quest to find out who she is and where she came from. "The Hills are alive with the sound of screaming" - greatest tagline ever? #horrorsky

Oh yeah, this rocked! A bit of a genre mash-up, with elements from Evil Dead, Zombi 2, Anthropophagus, and whatever else was popular at the time. A serial killer, zombies, supernatural powers, blood and gore! Totally brainless, but you're not watching something like this for the themes and plot.
#nowwatching Cemetery of Terror (1985). A supernatural slasher/zombie film from Mexico in which a group of teens head to a cemetery and carnage ensues. #horrorsky

Reminiscent of Deadgirl, with some equally hideous male characters. Thematically, I think it's a commentary on the objectification of celebrities, and I'd argue it's more relevant now in an era of leaks and deepfakes. A deeply unpleasant film, but one that uses its gross premise to decent effect.
#nowwatching The Corpse of Anna Fritz (2015). The body of a celebrity ends up in a hospital morgue, where some men seem to take an...unnatural interest in it. I'm imagining this is going to be about disgusting men getting their comeuppance. #horrorsky

A mix of period drama and horror, with lots of familiar elements from films like the Ghost of Yotsuya, The Haunted Castle, Black Cat Mansion, and The Curse of Kasane Swamp. Still, it adds some more disturbing horror elements and has some very impressive and imaginatively filmed sequences. Excellent!
#nowwatching Bakeneko: A Vengeful Spirit (1968). We're playing boggle with Japanese ghost story elements again, and this time we have a *ghost cat* haunting a *cursed swamp* after its *owner was killed* by an *evil lord*! What a combination! #horrorsky

#justwatched The Beast and the Magic Sword (1983), the 10th (!) of Paul Naschy's films about his werewolf character Waldemar Daninsky. A very ambitious film, set mostly in Japan, and full of memorable scenes, including a werewolf vs. tiger fight (very 'shark vs. zombie'!) #horrorsky

Being a fan of Bruno Mattei does not require liking his films. In fact, I would say enjoying the films of Bruno Mattei is rather against the spirit of the Bruno Mattei fan club.

#nowwatching Revenge of the Dead, aka Zeder (1983). An zombie film that I believe has the most hilariously misleading poster of all time. This artwork suckered me into buying a Blu-ray! #horrorsky

For a low-budget, single location thriller, this wasn't too shabby. Certainly no masterpiece, but the story moved along at a decent clip, and there were some nice twists to keep you on your toes. As so often with these types of films though, it didn't really stick the landing.
#nowwatching The Elevator (2015), a man gets stuck in an elevator with a woman who seems bent on revenge. Another low budget offering on Bloodstream. #horrorsky

#nowwatching Dracula's Daughter (1936). I'm not sure about these two bumbling police officers at the start (feeling a bit Last House on the Left...), and I doubt we'll be getting a Lugosi-level performance, but it also seems to be a bit less stagey than the 1931 film. #horrorsky

A pretty fun slasher, relatively well made with a few good gore effects and a couple of decent characters. It suffers from glacial pacing though - we spend a lot of time with characters politely wandering off into the woods one at the time so the mad man can chop them up.
#nowwatching Madman (1981). A bunch of teens incur the wrath of a man (presumably mad), who tidily dispatches them. An early Friday the 13th rip-off, probably most notable for featuring the only slasher villain with his own bespoke folk song. #horrorsky

This is obviously dated (both socially and in terms of the filmmaking), but I absolutely loved it. The story is nice and simple, the stop motion is inconsistent but occasionally brilliant, the characterisation is clear, and it has some nice moments of humour. Just a fun romp through the jungle!
#nowwatching The Lost World (1925). A first-time watch! I've never read the book either, though my dad authored a YA fiction novel based on Conon Doyle's story.
