More live music! More somewhat over-the-hill punk! Starting in a few minutes!

#nowwatching Malatesta's Carnival of Blood (1973). I had no idea that the famed Italian anarchist theorist Errico Malatesta had made a horror film. I...oh, different Malatesta? Ok, well I'll keep watching it still, I guess. #horrorsky

#nowwatching Revenge of the Zombies (1943), a sequel/remake of King of the Zombies, in which a mad scientist is found to be making undead soldiers for the Third Reich. An unimpressive poverty row production from Monogram, but at least it's another checked off the zombie film list! #horrorsky

#nowwatching The Brain Eaters (1958). 50s teen sci-fi horror trash, which I'm only watching because I'm pretty sure it inspired an excellent song by the Misfits. The poster is great though. #horrorsky

#nowwatching Deadline (1980). A horror writer goes mad while working on his next novel. This film is properly obscure - I couldn't find any information about it, which is definitely a good sign. #horrorsky

#nowwatching Fast Company (1979), a David Cronenberg-helmed action film in which a racing car driver has to reclaim his reputation from a rival. #filmsky

Picked up some new books! A mix of classical sociology, heterodox economics, Marxism, Anarchism, and English Civil War-era proto-socialism. This is all for my day job.

#nowwatching The Ogre (1989), another film by Lamberto Bava made for the Brivido Giallo TV series. A family goes on holiday to an Italian castle, which contains remnants of the mother's childhood nightmares. No relation to the Demons franchise. #horrorsky

#nowwatching Fatal Games (1984). I've seen all the good slashers. I've seen all the passable slashers. I've even seen a hefty chunk of the bad slashers. And yet, like a dromedary seeking water, I return once again to the dry slasher well... #horrorsky

#nowwatching The Anger (2025), a high school revenge thriller that was filmed on an iPhone 11. I don't know much about this, but I love a bit of low budget independent filmmaking! #horrorsky

Youth of Today - Live in Tokyo! One of the best shows I've seen in years. I bumped into Walter and Sammy in a bar after the show too. This isn't the best picture, but in my defense I got kicked in the face just before this. #hardcore #punk

#nowwatching Twins of Evil (1971). A Hammer film featuring vampires and witch hunts, inspired by Sheridan Le Fanu's Carmilla. Peter Cushing is on fine form, embodying puritan fanaticism. There's also an early role for David Warbeck, who went on to star in Italian classics like The Beyond. #horrorsky

#nowwatching Death Kappa (2010). I always said there should be a horror film based on the Kappa yokai. Be careful what you wish for, I guess. A failed idol returns to her hometown only to discover an ultranationalist cult attempting to create Kappa-human hybrid super soldiers. Sure, ok. #horrorsky

#nowwatching The Case of the Bloody Iris (1972). Another Giallo film! This one seems pretty straightforward so far, but I'm waiting for the plot to go off the rails any moment... #horrorsky

#nowwatching Zombies of Mora Tau (1957). Another pre-Romero zombie film, in which a group of American adventurers travel to Africa to unearth a hoard of shipwrecked diamonds. The only problem is the diamonds are guarded...by the ship's zombie crew! #horrorsky

It's just hit after hit.

I think this is the greatest stunt ever captured on film.

#nowwatching Thunder (1983), also known as Thunder Warrior. A bit of Italian Rambosploitation in which a Native American veteran returns to his ancestral lands, only to clash with a company violating a treaty signed by his grandfather. I chose it based on the poster, yes.

#nowwatching Demon Seed (1977). A film about the dangers of creating a sentient AI. Feels like a film ahead of its time... #horrorsky

#nowwatching The Stepford Wives (1975). I was under the impression I'd seen this film, but on watching it I definitely haven't. How is that possible? #horrorsky

#nowwatching Malevolence 2: Bereavement (2010). I didn't like the first one at all, so naturally I'm moving straight on to the second. This is a prequel to the first one, and if nothing else it looks a lot nicer. #horrirsjy

#nowwatching Malevolence (2004). An old independent slasher that was served up to me by Tubi. A bunch of bank robbers take refuge in a house occupied by a...malevolent force. #horrorsky

#nowwatching Mermaid Legend (1984). I saw a few people recommending this recently and it sounded amazing, so I splashed out on a fancy boutique Blu-ray. Really excited to watch this! #horrorsky
November 28, 2025 at 11:18 AM
#justwatched The Undead (1957), a psychological experiment leads a woman to become entangled in a past life. A bit of low-budget fun from Roger Corman, with an imaginative, if rather silly, story. #horrorsky
November 28, 2025 at 9:03 AM
#nowwatching Frogman (2023). It doesn't have a great letterboxed rating, but I'm sure it'll be toadally awesome. Hopfully none of the nice characters croak. It's found footage, so I think we'll see everything, warts and all. So far, I'm ribbeted. #horrorsky
