The Heritage Quilters of the Hudson Palisades are exhibiting their gorgeous, hand-pieced quilts at the library until the end of January.

Come in to appreciate the warmth of their beautiful craftsmanship and colorful designs!

Paws for Reading Saturdays, 11 AM - 12:30 PM Dec. 27., Jan. 24, Feb. 28 Ages: 5-12 These therapy dogs don't judge how well you read, they're just happy to listen-- which is great for practicing those reading skills without the judgment of an adult. Each child is given a 15-minute time slot. Please note: a parental consent form must be signed before the program. New City or West Nyack Library cardholders only. The Children's librarians had so much fun at their Taylor Swift birth-Tay party last Friday that they wanted to share!

Miss Cathy writes, "We danced and sang, made friendship bracelets, decorated our favorite eras/albums, and had some yummy snacks!"

Our crafters (both the young and the young-at-heart) have been SO busy this season. Painting winter scenes, building DIY gingerbread houses, making holiday decorations...

Animals with misleading names. I'm seeing this go around as part of a viral tumblr thread so I thought I'd reshare it.
A comic called Animals with Misleading Names. There's an electric eel labeled "not an eel". There's a mountain goat labeled "not a goat." There's a maned wolf labeled "not a wolf." There's a king cobra labeled "not a cobra. Also, snakes are typically self-governing." There's a peacock mantis shrimp labeled "Not a peacock. Not a mantis. Also, not a shrimp." There's a horny toad labeled "Not a toad. Only thinks of you as a friend." There's a mayfly labeled "active through the spring and summer." There's an eastern kingbird labeled "found in the west.
