Because nobody wants to perform there anymore. Everything Trump touches turns to shit.
Trump: "I have determined that the fastest way to bring The Trump Kennedy Center to the highest level of Success, Beauty, and Grandeur, is to cease Entertainment Operations for an approximately two year period of time, with a scheduled Grand Reopening that will rival and surpass anything."

In my opinion, American voters made an enormous mistake in 2024, one that resulted in the absolute worst people being elevated into positions of authority.

Sad and unexpected news. It's hard to choose a favorite role of hers because there are so many great ones, but I always think of her as Sheila in WAITING FOR GUFFMAN. R.I.P.

Today I learned that because of his short height (5'3") and muscular form, Glenn Danzig was invited to audition for the role of Wolverine in the 2000 X-Men movie.

He didn't, and later claimed he thought the movie was "terrible" and Hugh Jackman's performance was "gay."🙄

Last night, I received my annual email from a fan of the Trent novels (DYING IS MY BUSINESS, DIE AND STAY DEAD) wondering where the third book is, and once again I had to relate the sad story of how sales of the books were disappointing to the publisher, St. Martin's...

This is just blocks away from me. We don't know yet if it was a targeted attack or an accident, but according to the police, they "saw a grey Honda with New Jersey plates strike the rear door, reverse and strike the rear door again."

Forty years ago, a national tragedy defined my generation.

I was 16 when the space shuttle Challenger exploded shortly after lift off on this day in 1986. It was all over the news, the image shown over and over. We were all traumatized.

I watched HELL HOLE (2024), about a fracking team in Serbia that unleashes a parasitic organism, and grossness ensues. I thought it was okay, not great. It's slow and the dialogue is pretty bad. There are some good practical effects mixed in with the CGI, but ultimately the movie is forgettable.

Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. I'd like to take a moment to thank my friends here on Bluesky who acknowledge my posts about rising incidents of antisemitism. I wish it was a larger amount of my friends--it's actually quite a small number--but I appreciate it nonetheless.

I'd heard M3GAN 2.0 was bad, and there's no denying it, but I had a blast with it. Yes, the story's all over the place and the pacing's off because the movie doesn't understand when not to go for the joke, but I must've been in the right mood. It's not a sharp satire like the first one,but it's fun.

I finally saw Guillermo del Toro's FRANKENSTEIN, and I'm sorry to say I didn't love it. It's a very well-made movie. It looks amazing, and there are some great performances (although I thought Mia Goth, whom I usually like, was miscast).

Where I am in Brooklyn, the snowfall has already given way to sleet earlier than expected. Hopefully, this will mean fewer inches of snow in the end.

Like Emilio P. Miraglia's previous giallo, THE NIGHT EVELYN CAME OUT OF THE GRAVE, I hadn't seen THE RED QUEEN KILLS SEVEN TIMES in probably 20 years. As a giallo, I wouldn't rank it among the best (despite it having one of the best giallo titles ever)...
