It's limited to 100 copies and is sold out at the publisher, but you should be able to find copies on the secondhand market, and of course there's a trade paperback available, too.

Forty years ago. So much has happened in that time, including other, even bigger national tragedies, but this one stayed with me, as it has for so many of my generation. An unforgettable shock we all felt at a young age.

It was almost impossible to process that the fault lay with something as small as an O-ring seal in one of the Solid Rocket Boosters. NASA and manufacturer Morton Thiokol allegedly knew of the defect and disregarded warnings.

A good illustration of this comes from the Holocaust itself: it was illegal to hide Jews from the Gestapo, and required by law to hand them over for deportation to the concentration camps.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day is also a good time to remind folks that the law often has very little to do with right and wrong. The law is simply what is allowed and what is not.
