@edsbs.bsky.social @shutdownfullcast.bsky.social I believe the Calgorithm book guys are exploring interest in another print run, but either way we need to get you a copy so you can enjoy the story of the Cal fan who got arrested for rushing Auburn's field then got sound legal counsel via Cal twitter

Mike Williams, Wyking Jones, Jim Knowlton, and Mark Fox put years of effort into killing Cal men’s basketball BUT IT STILL LIVES

Just saw the Morisot + Manet special exhibit at the Legion of Honor in SF, and it was one of the very best conceived and presented art exhibits I’ve seen. Highly recommended, and mandatory if you have any interest at all in Expressionism

According to research by @writeforcal.com we’ve never had an interim coach, but ARE 18-4 without a head coach.

In this column, I will argue that Cal football needs to return to communal decision making, via people’s committees, a central 5 year planning system and rule by the Party

Anyway here’s the column that I rushed out last night, as I wasn’t able to get in front of a computer til like 9:30 pm. As a result I felt like I didn’t really do the last nine years justice. writeforcalifornia.com/p/justin-wil...

Cal’s challenge is to prove that the consensus of the rest of the country - that aspiring to anything better than .500 football in Berkeley is a fool’s errand - is wrong.
Getting a school that doesn't care about football bowl eligible in a P4 conference is really impressive, do they really think they can do better than Wilcox?

At a bar celebrating @aek2005.bsky.social’s birthday as the Wilcox news breaks and this picture at the bar feels like an appropriate metaphor

I mean I like him better than Harsin I guess? Whatever.
Nick Rolovich will be Cal's interim head coach, per source. The former Hawaii/Wazzu HC is currently a senior offensive analyst.

Why we decide to do it this way, and specifically why we decide that everybody has to stare at each other like it’s the border between North and South Korea I’ll never understand
The Big Game stare down is one of the funniest things in college sports.

Re-upping on this one
Granted, there hasn't been a point to having Justin Wilcox as a head coach since he lost to 1-11 Colorado in 2022 except for being poor and unambitious
November 23, 2025 at 3:41 AM
Justin Wilcox’s primary (only?) selling point is that he beats Stanford. Take that away and what are you left with?
November 23, 2025 at 3:18 AM
The Stanford band is using their halftime slot to literally just list the names of their seniors, which is so on the nose for the most self-referential, look-at-me band in the country

Current status: chanting “Peter Thiel” at the Stanford tailgate next to us

Somebody came by asking if our tailgate had ketchup and we’ll look our tailgates are different here on the west coast

Here’s another reminder that you cannot understand Cal’s season without the context of a rock bottom strength of schedule

2022 really was the greatest ‘horseshoe up your ass’ season in CFB history

Seeing USC fans in ponchos in the Coliseum is deeply jarring. Surprised so many of them even HAVE ponchos!
November 15, 2025 at 9:01 PM
I don’t know what kind of attendance I’d expect for Ivy League football, but this is shockingly bad for a conference winning team that’s good enough to make real noise in the FCS playoffs
November 15, 2025 at 8:46 PM
Two years of watching Fernando and JKS playing QB for Cal has already rewired my brain to expect better when I watch other college football QBs who aren’t nearly as good
November 15, 2025 at 8:39 PM
Dabo acting like he just won a title, man Cal looked better against this team than Clemson did
