Oh, thank you. I understood George was associated/conflated with the prophet Elijah? But as an atheist brought up in a Christian context, my knowledge is superficial
Received a copy of a book that I looked over a draft of the #tinnitus and #hyperacusis section. Unexpectedly, I have a mention in the acknowledgements - "research based feedback and [a] keen eye for detail".

I think that sums up my professional self quite neatly!

The book's a good read too!
And for requests such as ongoing prescriptions for long term conditions (like mine) a F2F would be an impossible burden on all sides. But it might reduce requests if these meds could be prescribed quarterly not monthly 🤔
This is St George.

His dad was from Turkey
His mum was from Syria
He was a Roman
He died in Palestine
He never visited England
He didn't kill a dragon
He is a Christian saint
He is a Muslim and Jewish prophet

Happy #StGeorgesDay
I had two offers on different things yesterday where the would be buyer made an offer at the 40% off maximum Vinted allow. I wish Vinted had a button that just replied "Ha ha. No."
A day late for #NationalPetDay, but every day is Pet Day in our house!

It is - and terrifying! What's amusing is when I was with Tinnitus UK, I did ask the authors if they were going to do an updated study!
I'm working on a service evaluation to find out how GPs deal with #tinnitus & #hyperacusis patients.

In 2011, a similar study was presented at my first @tinnitusuk.bsky.social conference. Now I'm the one conducting the study! It feels slightly unreal, but also like I've come full circle.
Train selfie - off to #Nottingham to see my #PhD supervisors, work on writing content for a digital intervention, and help facilitate a day of workshops on #tinnitus, #hyperacusis and #MentalHealth

Increasingly greige hair due to slow progress on my literature review!

Tinnitus UK is holding a free Tinnitus Information Roadshow event in Sheffield, which aims to reduce stress, confusion, isolation, improve wellbeing and enable people with tinnitus to cope better with their condition.

We didn't make #pancakes last night but we made a new-to-us dish from Rukmini Iyer's The Green Roasting Tin. Persian mushrooms with pomegranate and walnuts. Delicious and deeply savoury!

Joining the library was one of the first things I did when I moved here. I've made good friends through groups the library hosts & have got involved in their crime fiction festival.

I would not have had the career I've had & be a PhD student without libraries & librarians!

Had a very bracing #geocaching event on the Stone Jetty at #Morecambe - it should have been in the cafe there, but we think the owner took one look at the yellow weather warnings and went "nah!". We on the other hand...
If you love cheese, this place is paradise! It's the Courtyard Dairy in Austwick. They do mail order and online tastings (which are fab) but the shop is en route to where we're staying this week so...

Progress on one of my UFOs - The Green Man by Witches Stitches. It is taking concentration, but I'm loving the colours and the 3D effect.

When I pressed this, some of the colour ran 😐 Fortunately, I had some tiny heart buttons on my stash & they beautifully covered up the marks. I added others for balance & I think it looks even nicer than it did!

If this was #LinkedIn, I'd be making some kind of moral out of that 😂

Had a great catch up with my supervisor and a fab time in the @britishlibrary.bsky.social

I did the fun #geocache and the most exciting bit - I got a Reader's Pass and worked for a while in the Science Reading Room 😊

Kudos to #BritishLibrary for their acceptance of digital ID and lovely staff!
Off to London to meet up with my supervisor. Last week marked a definite jump up in pace and scope of my work. I'm actually quite happy about that - I now have more defined things to be doing (just a lot of them!), which suits me better - I am not very good with the unknown 😊

It's the poop mountain with ours. I think they hold it in until they are back in the clean pen!
Happy Monday! Arlo and Westley are keen to start the week, I hope it's a good one for you!

First #trainselfie of the year!

Off to London for the launch of the @Tinnitus UK Tinnitus Week report (I've had previews, it's a belter!)

Then to Nottingham, for a supervision meeting, speaking to a Tinnitus Support Group & hosting a geocaching event!

Busy week 😀

I said this year I was going to concentrate on my abandoned projects, but when I saw this design, I could not pass it by, it might have been designed just for me!

Designer: #Stitchrovia (on #Etsy)
Threads: #DMC
Fabric: #Silkweaver

I was surprised at the difference, I thought it looked good without it, but it really brings the character to life!
We have a new guinea pig in the house 🤣

My first craft finish for 2025. You can see the before and after the back stitch and little highlights in his eyes.

He will be pressed and framed for display next Christmas.

Balance! There are other goals, but there's also a character count 😀
