Well, here I am; I suspect I shall be using this a little more than the old place now, where I'm nigelwuk for the time being.
The cynic in me wonders if today's Truth Social outrage is just testing to see exactly how far they can go with the overt racism.

Core values?

The subjugation of "inferior" nations? Or Morris dancing and wishy-washy Evensong?

The problem with this sort of crap-waffle is that it could mean whatever the listener wants it to mean.
Keir Starmer attacks the racism of Reform and Matt Goodwin but then adds that "Britain has also been let down by a mindset on the left of politics that is too slow to defend core British values"

Just seen someone from the US saying how the King appears to understand accountability with the way Andrew has been treated.

Have pointed out:

a) this is The Firm, in self-preservation mode.
b) Charles is a man for whom a posh, hopefully compliant virgin was found,as breeding stock.

We're long past the point where shame and dishonour need to be brought back into politics, if you ask me.

No second chances for the corrupt. No feeble excuses for expenses, or lying, or dodgy deals.

Burn it all down. The sleazy world of clubs and old school ties, and boys being boys.

It was a sex pest that finally did for Johnson and ultimately the Tories, and maybe it'll do the same for Starmer and Labour.

Smash the lot of it; the aristos, the clubs of St James, the Royals.

None of it works

I'd be quite delighted if this scandal brings down Starmer. But also crossing my fingers and hoping for the Royal Family too.

Lay awake in bed last night thinking of important, weighty matters:

Why can't you buy a cat scratching post that looks like the Post Office Tower? Wouldn't it be a hit with millions of cat owners who remember the 1970s?

It's those chemicals Brian dumped, isn't it? They've got into the water and now everyone's making questionable relationship decisions.

I thought at first it was a dildo.

Bold to say "these billionaires didn't steal from you" and cite examples including Amazon, whose predatory actions have destroyed many businesses, and AirBnB, which has vastly contributed to the housing crisis in many places.

Idea for Lords reform:

Oprah pointing at every single person in the chamber and say "You get a tumbril. And you get a tumbril!"

A slab of Kendal Mint Cake that's been in a pocket for months will basically have reverted to pile of minty granulated sugar. It's barely stable in a glove compartment; being bashed around in a pocket will destroy it.

Just had a spam flogging Japanese knives with the heading "Cook like a Samurai"

Sorry? Were they known for their kitchen technique? Or are you just being incredibly lazy?

Honestly, not remembering receiving $75,000 is almost as damning to many people as where the money came from.

How can any normal person not remember such a sum of money?

Tea cards! This just floated to the top of my office. Brooke Bond Picture Cards book, prehistoric animals. Collect the cards that came with your tea, and stick them in the bool

The thing that people appear to not understand about the WASPI stuff is that a state "pension " is not a pension in the sense that you are paying into a personal pot. It's quite unlike a personal pension, and a lot more like a benefit.

2035 is pretty much "never."

Unless by some miracle Labour clings to power, won't the incoming government (likely Reform or Tory-led) scrap this stuff, claiming it's red tape?

A 2030 enforcement would mean most people needed to be ready by the next election.
‘Absurd’: decent homes standard for England’s private renters will not be enforced until 2035

Campaigners say government is letting landlords ‘drag their feet’ and ‘denying renters the most basic standards’

You know, before some cranks and bigots poured money into the idea of Brexit, EU membership was really low down on everyone's list of priorities.

It took a lot of money and newspaper lies to shift things to the point where there was once a narrow majority for Brexit.

Godawful piles of crap. #wato

Is it only me that feels a little uneasy at the way the news keeps mentioning that the two people killed in Minneapolise were US Citizens.

It feels a bit like a subtle implication that if they weren't, it wouldn't have been so bad.

I think at this point the UK has accepted Paddington as the Death Bear, collector of souls. So, I think as a nation we should start smearing marmalade on the eyes of the dead and whisper “fare for the crossing”. It’ll feel weird now but, in three of four generations, no one will question it.
