The @JIBCnews Police Academy shapes the next generation of officers. That’s why we’re investing $4 million to expand training from 192 to 288 seats for the 2025–26 academy year — helping ensure more officers are ready to serve communities across B.C.

Thank you to the officers for their hard work taking toxic drugs off our streets.

Thanks to the tireless work of the BC Extortion Task Force and local police agencies, investigators are turning intelligence into arrests - and arrests into charges.

These are complex, coordinated investigations, and today’s results show progress is being made.

Seven people have now been charged in connection with the ongoing crackdown on extortion-related crimes - a major step forward in these investigations.

These charges send a message: those targeting families and businesses with violence and intimidation will face consequences.

Sat down with the team at Swift 1200 AM in Surrey this morning, where shots were fired at the station. I am relieved no one was hurt, and I am angry at this act of intimidation. The media are a cornerstone of our democracy and targeting them is unacceptable.

The Bishnoi terrorist designation strengthens these efforts — giving police the tools to follow the money, freeze assets and disrupt financing. We will continue to use every tool available to bring criminals to justice.

Another suspect remains wanted and the recent targeting of Swift 1200 AM reminds us there is still more to do. BC's Extortion Task Force, local police, RCMP & federal partners are working around the clock on complex, international investigations that demand strong coordination.

Glad to see accountability in the 2024 shooting and arson at the Colwood home of well-known Punjabi musician AP Dhillon, where the court noted links to the Bishnoi crime group. This outcome reflects the dedicated work of police and prosecutors.

Today, at the @BCLEMemorial, we honour officers who gave their lives to protect our communities.

Let this day of remembrance, gratitude & solemn reflection remind us not only of what we have lost, but of what we must protect: safety, justice, and the dignity of those who serve.

At the same time, we are breaking the cycle with expanded care. The Premier announced 100 new secure care beds in Surrey and Prince George for people with the most complex needs. This will make streets safer while helping people get the care they need.
