This morning I spoke with Ryan Price at CFAX about how BC is leading the way in keeping children safe online, but there is so much more we could be doing. That’s why I am calling for federal online safety legislation, so we ensure we have the best tools possible to protect our kids from online harms

World #SaferInternetDay is a chance for all of us to recommit to creating online spaces that are safe for everyone. In BC we are doing this through landmark legislation like the #IntimateImagesProtectionAct and educating youth, parents, and educators about ways to protect yourself online.

New rules coming this summer will strengthen #consumerrights in BC. Starting August 1st, you’ll see clearer contracts, better cancellation options, and advance notice for automatic renewals — including services like streaming subscriptions.

Recently I talked with Mo Amir at This Is VANCOLOUR about the tools the federal government has to set standards and protect children from online harms when using social media. Protecting children from these harms is paramount, as we know tragic cases can occur when there aren’t standards in place.

During #AccesstoJustice Week, we launched a free online service for remote court registry access and welcomed a new class of sheriffs. Each step brings BC closer to a modern, fair #justice system built around people.

Congratulations to our 12 new sheriffs on their graduation. From keeping people safe and supporting the smooth operation of our courts, these graduates will help ensure our #justice system remains safe and efficient. Proud to welcome them as they begin serving communities throughout the province.

I recently sat down with Swift AM to talk about how tackling the #extortion challenges is our top public safety priority. We are here, we are listening, and we are responding. We value each and every business in #Surrey and our government won’t stop until people feel safe in their community.

Easy access to court services means better access to justice. The new Virtual Counter transforms how we help people navigate the court system, offering convenient, free online support from anywhere in #BC.

Recently I sat down with Mo Amir at This is VANCOLOUR to discuss how we will be meeting X in court because they have refused to fully remove a non-consensual intimate image of a #BC resident from its platform after being given an order from our Civil Resolution Tribunal.

We're making sure police and partner agencies have the resources they need to help keep people and their families safe from extortion threats.

If you're being threatened, report it to police. Tips reported to police help bring criminals to justice.

So happy to see more homes protected in Vancouver-Hastings. With support from BC’s Rental Protection Fund, over 40 homes in our community are now protected & nearly 2,200 homes have been secured across BC. More stability for the families & long-time residents who deserve to stay in their communities

From improving supports for survivors of sexual violence, strengthening protections against non‑consensual image sharing, securing federal bail reforms to address repeat offending, and modernizing family law, our government is building a justice system that serves everyone in BC.

I spoke to RED FM today about how from advocating for stricter bail & sentencing changes in the Criminal Code to providing more on the ground resources, we are working to stop #extortion in #Surrey. Every time there needs to be an adjustment to how we tackle this problem, we will make that change.

This week is World Interfaith Harmony Week, a call to celebrate dialogue & understanding between people of all faiths. Grateful for the people & organizations fostering respect, connection & belonging in BC. We will continue to work alongside these partners to create a safer, more welcoming province

People of African descent have been a part of this province since at least 1858 when the first of about 800 free African American people arrived in Victoria. From those beginnings, Black Canadians have made enormous contributions to our province.

We should all feel pride in this history, while we also acknowledge the unjust barriers Black people face in their daily lives. Our government is proud to work alongside the Black community across BC to advance equity, preserve Black history and strengthen

An exciting afternoon yesterday touring the new Simon Fraser University Medical School! While the site is still under construction, seeing the new digital anatomy lab with its VR technology was incredible. Can’t wait for this incredible facility to be supporting the next generation of doctors 🩺

Fighting extortion is our top priority.

20 additional officers, a national meeting to coordinate actions and ongoing discussions to do whatever it takes to get criminals off the streets.

PM @mark-carney.bsky.social and Minister Gary Anandasangaree, thank you for the productive discussions.

Yesterday I was asked about Jim Pattison Group’s potential ties with ICE. I have a clear message for them: I urge them to do better on behalf of British Columbians. The world is appalled watching this situation unfold, especially the deaths of citizens at the hands of ICE. We cannot watch in silence

There is a lot of misinformation around DRIPA being spread by others for their own political gain. Instead of stoking fears & dividing people, our government is focused on unlocking new opportunities by working with First Nations communities & industry partners through the framework of DRIPA.

These charges are a promising step in addressing the extortion challenges facing people across the lower mainland. We will continue to work collaboratively to ensure people feel safe and these individuals are held accountable.
Two men have been charged in connection with a shots fired incident in Surrey. Harshdeep Singh and Hanspreet Singh are in custody following the swift work of @surreyps Project Assurance, which targets extortion and extortion-related shootings, along with partner agencies and Crown Counsel.

Today, we remember the more than six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, and the millions of others murdered by the Nazi regime. As survivors grow fewer, our responsibility to remember and our resolve to act grows stronger. (1/3)
