"Paywalled" is the word you're looking for. They didn't turn it off. The only thing that changed is X now explicitly makes money off CSAM.

He says, posting on an app that freely allows the making and sharing (widely) of deepfake porn and CSAM.
I understand that this is a behavioral problem that has limited technical solutions. But a significant part of the solution for the behavioral problem is (dis)incentive (aka regulatory) design.

Now that's a headline. Don't know how long this will stay up.

Zohran’s inauguration brimmed w/the energy that NYC is “a shining beacon of possibility” per @jumaane.bsky.social.

Amidst the darkness of authoritarianism, inequality & hate, we have a chance to show what’s possible.

That’s always been our mission as New Yorkers—it was profoundly renewed today.

Windows 11’s recent #passkeys update reflects broader work across the ecosystem, and within #FIDOAlliance, to remove friction. Improving #usability and manageability is what helps the move to #passwordless become deployable at scale.
There’s also an important benefit people often miss.

I already knew that Rob Reiner was responsible for two of my all-time favorite movies: The Princess Bride and A Few Good Men.
And then I read this, about a movie that I think about all the time.
😢
When Rob Reiner was on his all-time epic run at the start of his career, he had an opportunity to read a script that was looking for a production partner, and he lost his mind for it. He decided Castle Rock had to have it, no matter what.

If you're going to read one thing about the Digital Credentials API, make it this brilliant post by @sphcow.bsky.social. In it, she clearly breaks down what the DC API is, what it isn't, and why it's at the heart of active(!) conversations in #DigitalIdentity, #DigitalWallets, #VDCs, and #Standards.
Digital Identity Wallet Standards, the DC API, and Politics
A clear guide to digital identity wallet standards, the DC API, and why regulatory pressure often targets the wrong layer in the credential ecosystem.

I have a fun hypothetical for the technical among us! (For certain values of fun, heh.) The scenario: You run a website. It doesn't have a mobile app: the only way to access it is in-browser. You are deeply, morally opposed to any form of invasive tracking or data-gathering on your users.

Government-issued #VerifiableDigitalCredentials (mDLs, digital passports, etc) will dramatically improve lives, but also run the risk of being overused. That's why the Better Identity Coalition is putting together a voluntary Code of Conduct for #VDCs. Provide feedback and help shape the future.

Whether it be thieves, ladders/elevators, or marketing...

... speed matters.
When thieves climbed to a second-floor window of the Louvre, grabbed jewels of staggering worth and descended to their getaway scooters, many in France were stunned and furious. But the German company that made the elevator saw a once-in-a-lifetime marketing opportunity. Read more: nyti.ms/477z9Lm
