i'm sorry, you want to criticize that military shooter game for being jingoistic slop? have you considered that it was actually just trying to fit in with the jingoistic slop genre?

should have hired this "Aidan Sizzle" instead
The kid doesn't seem flagrantly biased, but it's image over substance to name a 7-months freelancer as CBS News' flagship war correspondent. (Doesn't seem he even speaks Ukrainian.) In the old days he'd be starting in the mail room. Now a Yale diploma, nice face, and Bari's favor is all you need. 2/

read the New Yorker piece on Bari Weiss. each person who described her as charismatic had me going, really? or are you a chump? and the NYT opinion section, as always, doesn't miss an opportunity to seem vile. the issue wasn't her trash politics, you see, it was that she wasn't nice to us

Genuinely the only thing keeping me going—but it really is keeping me going—is how good it is to see people link arms and push for this to end.

I cannot stop thinking about how much love people can have for their neighbors, and how much work and money is poured into breaking that love apart.

we should be more explicit: making immigration a problem is a project shared by America’s establishment political parties. both are invested in borders, in the state’s exclusive right to violence, in the cleaving of families. ICE can exist because Dems oppose it toothlessly or truly believe in it
Immigration is a fake problem. We have politicians on the one hand who want to use immigrants as scapegoats for our real ones and politicians on the other who are too cowardly to stand against them and tell the truth. That is the entire situation. Until that changes, people will continue to die.

always interesting to watch who turns that stuff on and off, and how and when. very specific traditions and aesthetics as an on ramp to popularity, then comes prestige acting and country music

so insulting, man. "the intersection of gaming, TV, movies, and pop culture" -- what is that intersection, in the wake of you gutting your videogame section? it's an imaginary place where you underpay one person to do the work of many

I do appreciate that, in what appears to be an attempt at parity, you can see the outline of Yakumo's belly button through his shirt???

(I will say that I quickly settled on a 2H weapon and then fooled myself into trying 1H after each boss. it never took -- sometimes, given all the flexibility in the world, you just know what you like)

yes, so much encouragement to tinker and experiment. I also really dig the buddy setup -- it's like getting to play with a Dark Souls summon the whole time, with encounters built around that. but I'm having a hard time with the design of the women characters. it's relentless!

playing Code Vein ahead of the sequel -- very good example of the traditional 5, 6, 7/10 being more interesting than what is often treated as a 9 or 10. overflowing with ideas, many hits and many misses; confidently earnest and deeply crude. constant whiplash
