My love for NGB is endless. Every fight is full of unique possibilities.

Baiting a zombie grab is *just* reliable enough where you think it's the dominant strat, but ofc fixed windows, tight corners and tank controls push back. Is this how you wanna risk crossing this hallway the next 6 times? Even more dangerous when Jill has less health and is slower than Chris.

Every trip out of the save room in REmake is a game in itself. This is where you "hatch the plan": managing memory, probability, and hubris. Can I carry X and still collect Y in a single lap? The game toys with this further, when a critical shortcut has a limited number of uses before locking up.

tbh I wish people were louder about them doing stuff like this—as time goes on, they've gotten more brazen about how they editorialise or straight-up change the games they're "preserving" while also expecting one to jump through increasing hoops in order to identify or undo their changes

For those unaware, this might be one of Nightdive's weirdest remasters. They took the PC and N64 versions of Forsaken - basically two different games with completely different levels - and stapled them together into a frakensteined hybrid.

It works surprisingly well.

Crimson Heads activating on invisible timers is exactly the kind of urgency you bring to a methodical game like REmake. Increase the pressure, increase the fear. The act of returning somewhere is a puzzle itself now, and the best solution isn't always clear-cut. Run the numbers, it's your choice.
nobleed.bsky.social
Do you risk baiting a zombie to slip past, or is he at an inopportune angle? Do you instead gun him down and use your limited fuel to burn the body? Failing this, do you have a strong enough weapon or enough ammo to stop the raging Crimson Head who will awake after an undisclosed time?

Dynamic scenarios born from retreading the same rooms - as if sorting and plotting didn't already carry enough risk. Now, everything feels like weighing up a bet. Even if you think you know a shortcut, who's to say the game won't pull the rug out from under you on this trip?
nobleed.bsky.social
What REmake adds to the already existing formula are the Crimson Heads, which add a new dimension to simply walking down a hallway. Even then, more zombies can break into the same stretch unannounced just when you've become complacent enough to start running through a room carefree.

It almost feels moot to heap praise on the grandaddy, but I've still yet to play an RE that surpasses the intricate navigation of the mansion. Sorting items and plotting a course is the bread and butter here, which even with Jill's extra item slots and lockpick remains a cautious affair.

The Jill-a-thon continues! Having never finished her side of the campaign in REmake before, it'll be a great way to revisit yet another Mikami title this month.

This game still knows how to immediately get its hooks in me.

completed titanfall 2 on master

really wished that more AAA games were as minimalist as this one, I adore it's lasertight focus on a boundary-pushing concept (making a highly technical movement shooter that works on console) done by experts with more than 15 years of FPS experience
proof for my master clear

Dragon's Lair: Code Veronica X
nobleed.bsky.social
Genuinely stupefied by Code Veronica's design. The structure, the pacing, the puzzles, the bosses: the ones you just run away from... the ones that can softlock your run.

Would almost rec playing as some sort of acid test: Play RE3, then this, then REmake. Amazed magazines didn't tear it a new one.

It looks like YT has finally rolled out manual multi-language audio tracks for a mortal like me. Viewers only need to click the video's settings to find the audio track option. Editors, go to YouTube Studio > Languages tab on left.

A Vesperia skit with dual audio. 🤌

Lightning Returns but it's Spike Out

Reached the end of Code Veronica. Circling the drain for the last 4 hours of it.

Next gen RE and "bigger is better" - bigger in this case means getting from A to B takes 3x longer.

Will have to replay RE0 at some point, because both of these are fighting for the bottom of my list.

Saw One Battle After Another in IMAX. Superbly executed car chase scene, one of the all-time greats. PTA is probably the only dude I will still pay this kind of money for a full-tilt cinema experience.

This reminds me of how most NGB/S bosses are shredded by the same move/weapon. Gleaming blade and dual swords are cheese incarnate.
