The siren song of crawling back into bed to read the last quarter of Wool (Silo #1) and then binge the show, but I'm already tied to the mast.

It’s almost like bringing on a nazi-inked fuck boi TV personality to be in charge of national security was a bad idea.

I am having the hardest time trying to bend my feed content towards books and writing advice…

Yesterdays’ thrift book haul yielded this gem (1958 edition of The Universal Dream Book).

Want me to look something up for you?

This book is full of vintage wisdom. All of it completely true.

I should be sleeping but One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig will not let up.

Here's what I got into this past month. Catching up on some older releases. Also... Wicked. Can we talk about Wicked? Why didn't anyone tell me?

When the MMC smells like cedar and smoke but it’s been 3 months with multiple hand to hand combat situations since the last bath. Cedar is the dominant damn scent here?

My suspension of disbelief can only go so far.

2025 may have some silver linings…
First look at Oscar Isaac as Dr. Frankenstein in Guillermo del Toro’s #Frankenstein.

Releasing in November on Netflix.

Do you know the story of The Princess and the Pea?

I dropped a reference and ended up having to explain it… which, honestly, is a ridiculous story with a very strange moral.

Is this too niche to reference now?

I’m going to need a bigger sword.

The best part about critiquing an old manuscripts is that you can leave little love notes to your future self and know they will be taken exactly as intended.

“What?”

“Awkward.”

“Barf.”

“Deeper!”

I deeply need to get lost in the words today. Everything has been so heavy. Time to set it all down for a few hours and wander off into another world.

Catharsis.

Riding shotgun with demons, letting them steer us into a hell that we can come back from.

Camaraderie.

The dark is so much better when you know you aren’t alone in that desire. It’s fun to scream and laugh and startle with a mildly demented collective.

#HorrorWritersChat question 2 (whoops, a little late with this due to so many answers to QI):

What does horror mean to you personally?

Quote post, and don't forget to include the tag!

I'm a fan of the Empyrean Series, but not a "read Onyx Storm in the first week" fan.

That said, if you post blatant spoilers in the next month, I hope the cap falls off your salt shaker at the most inopportune moment.

What are you working on?

I’m elbows deep, rearranging the guts of my speculative detective WIP. There is blood everywhere, but I’ve got the vision.

Finished Cultish: The Language of Fanaticism today by Amanda Montell today.

Interesting, entertaining, well-researched, and disturbingly relevant. The mechanisms and power of cultish language abound...

Recognize the hooks before the barbs are set.

We really need to come together as a country and unite under a common cause.

Find it in your heart to go full bog witch and hex the patriarchy with us.

Post a witch…

So I Married A Witch (1942) deserves cult classic status. Persevere through the first 10 minutes…

Has anyone read The Employees by Olga Ravn? I’m still trying to process what I just consumed. A fractured narrative, unresolved lacuna, and a stomach churning satire on the dead-eyed but occasionally terrifying sacrifices required by corporate.

I might have to go in for a second read.

Pick it up and start.

Even if it doesn’t fit your vision. Even if it’s garbage. Even if you feel like you’re faking it.

Start.

Worry about the rest of it once inertia is in the rear view.
