It’s so warm in southern CA. The wild poppies that grow in my yard in the spring are already coming up. So much for winter, we’re skipping right to spring here!

Fire crews are battling a swiftly growing blaze dubbed the Hughes Fire burning near Interstate 5 in Castaic, in the northern part of Los Angeles County. Residents in the immediate vicinity of Castaic Lake are under mandatory evacuations, fire officials say.

Fuck. The Hughes Fire up around Castaic has gone from 50 to 500 acres in about an hour.

We’ve been watching the smoke from the Hughes fire from our window for a few hours. I’m quite relieved my son is working from home today as his office has just been evacuated.
