I developed a technique for writing combat music for video games.

Aesthetically, it's inspired by the battle music in various Zelda games, but I based it on counterpoint to make the dynamic fragments more seamless while increasing the amount of variation one can get out of the core ideas. #gamedev

I'm not making a game to appeal to a wide audience, or for as many possible people to play it.

I'm making a game for a handful of people to love it to pieces.

I'd rather make something that one person loves with all their heart than something a thousand people think is okay.

I used to make myself, but after I started to play TTRPGs, I challenge myself to create opposites of me. It’s really interesting to explore thoughts and perspectives that are unfamiliar to me, and try to justify them through some in-game experience.

Some people, especially untrained, lack a feel for nuance and cultural implications. If they on top of that don’t trust in someone with experience—or worse, insist such implications don’t exist—there is little one can do to help.

Completely agree. This is why I don’t apply for jobs, but actively and continuously seek out clients through conversation and discussion.

If you’re willing to not work with someone because of creative differences, the power dynamic is also evenly distributed in the relationship.
