BlackRock is seeking to buy Aligned Data Centers, a data center construction company.

It’s also going to buy AES, one of the major power providers for Big Tech data centers.

While these data centers drive up your electricity costs, wealthy financiers are going to make a killing.

Wondering @neorsd.org how can a single dog handle that workload? 💩🐶🐾
With the $39,970 grant, the city wants to purchase a scent detection dog trained to smell for human waste and ignore animal feces in Flint’s 345 outfalls, 8,338 manholes, and 14,962 catch basins.

Why an article about bad news makes me so happy is beyond me, but it's a beautiful insight that I needed on a complete bitch of a day.

As a used bookseller, this is maddening because every damn day I see appetite for strange books, old books, indie books, forgotten books. Readers are there. They love to explore the store & buy things they've never heard of.

Publishing's biggest problem is that they've forgotten how to sell books.
tajjaisen.bsky.social
I spent the summer reporting this essay on why it seems harder than ever to sell a book right now—especially if it isn't a debut and comes with the dreaded "sales track." I'm grateful to the writers, agents, editors, publishers & experts who spoke to me for this piece: thewalrus.ca/the-publishi...

The poor can eat batteries 🔋
Thanks to @kristin8x.antipovertycentre.org for stating the obvious: renewables are eugenics. #AusPol #NobodyDeservesPoverty
kristin8x.antipovertycentre.org
It’s deeply offensive to say that batteries for people who have $1000s to spend on them & will see their energy costs plummet is going to “save lives” for those of us who can’t afford our bills. To imply giving wealthier people stuff NOW will help poor folks in 2030 is deranged trickle down nonsense

Clear Air column today is about Labor’s batteries policy - what’s good, what’s missing, how it could work.

Senator Payman: "How many ppl does the Department believe had their payments cancelled unlawfully?"

The Department doesn't know: "we're working through those numbers"

Reminder: it's taken them years to "find" the numbers of ppl unlawfully cancelled which is now AT MINIMUM 310k, & will only climb
