"10:59" is an ideal Christmas gift, especially for young adults (and older adults) who are tricky to buy for! Don't just take my word for it - check out reviews like this on Goodreads 😊

So, are we going to aid & abet the fossil fuel industries & the capitalist billionaires to keep lining their pockets today? Or are we going to take action to ensure that our children have a habitable planet tomorrow? This isn't alarmist journalism. This is what it all boils down to. Time to choose.
Fun fact: This latest UN report doesn't just confirm overpopulation as the main driver of destruction (like the IPCC did in 2022).

It also uses the term "inevitable collapse" three times.

Is this a serious question? Access to birth control works but we deny and do not acknowledge & accept the predicament.

Lyle has no children despite wanting some. 1st step: Be honest.

Humans kill 100m sharks every year. 73% have their fins chopped off & are thrown back into the sea to die slowly & painfully. Wtf is wrong with us? 🤬

"Mankind"... what an oxymoron. Let's hope there are some other species left when our reign of terror on Earth comes to a messy and inglorious end.

Seems to me that every year the outcomes of COP are the same: disappointment & no meaningful changes. What's the point? How do we re-think the conference & switch things up a gear? Why do our world leaders care so little that tipping points are being passed? Should it be renamed COP-out???
#COP30
COP30 overpromised, underdelivered, empowered distractions, backtracked on issues and once again gave big oil and big ag a free pass.

Unfortunately, the suspicions of climate scientists (here in Brazil and abroad) were confirmed again.

What a time to be alive. 🤦‍♀️
Censorship means that you can't "make a joint decision to kill the lights"... you have to "make a j**nt decision to [unalive] the lights". Who are we protecting? Not the 10-year-olds who can all too easily get hold of guns and drugs, that's for sure.

A glass-half-empty person would focus on the fact that my quarterly royalties wouldn't buy me half a glass of anything very exciting 🫤🍷

But I'm a glass-half-full person, and I think it's so damn COOL that people in the UK, US, Germany and Canada bought my little book "10:59" this summer 😀🥂 Cheers!

We get such a thrill when we encounter our neighbours 😃 It's such a privilege to share our environment with so many amazing creatures. I mean, look at this beauty... the subtle gleam of its smooth scales... the gorgeous copper colour... the sinuous wiggles... I love slow worms 😍💚

We think extinction happens when a species disappears.
But for most, it begins long before—when roads, fields, and fences break the world into pieces so small that life can only breed with itself.

Last winter for three months running, the temp anomaly in the Arctic was 10-15°c above normal, a record. It's currently forecast to be 15-20°C. If this happens there'll be no denying we've lost the Arctic. I believe we already have.

Breaking News!
Code Yikes!

This last August saw a record low for average August Arctic sea-ice thickness, the first time below 1 meter, with data going back to 1979.

Still waiting for September data. Will we see a new all-time record low? The Climate 8-ball is drunk again.

In the gloaming
I sat watching the forest
gather dusk around its roots.
A tiny wren landed close
then came closer still.
I held those moments as tight as I dared
storing them gently in my memory
among a wealth of similar small treasures.
For it is these rare gifts
that truly make life worth living.

If you think it's not that big an issue...
If you think it doesn't really affect you personally...
If you think it's someone else's problem...

... Boy oh boy, you and your kids have a hell of a shock coming.

We are so deep in a climate crisis that has not happened in millions of years and has not yet fully manifested in reality, that no amount of renewable energy will solve it.
We need to save all existing forests and wetlands and restore degraded areas and stop economic growth
