She says bye!

We had a bit of a heart to heart about some stuff too.

It's hard being 90, and she finds some stuff a bit tricky now, obvs.

We went through a few things and I hope I helped a bit.

I tried to reassure her, she's a fucking superstar.

She thought that was funny.

(she is btw)

She's been to church today. The service was "not bad".

She also fed the foxes with a couple of tins of dog food.

She does this every night.

And every night they sit there with their big waggy brushes, pile in, scoff the lot and nick off.

I hope they send her a christmas card

Books are great Christmas presents.

Easy to wrap.
Low in calories.
Usually somewhere in that not terrible £10-£20 bracket.
Available in many colours.
Can be posted easily (unlike a hoover or two hoovers for example)
Personal to both you and the recipient.

Available to buy from me.

My scrappy notepad never lies!

Do you remember what the book was please?
November 23, 2025 at 7:53 PM
@gaycannibalism.bsky.social Hey. I have a terrible feeling that I haven't sorted out a book you requested from Melissa about six weeks ago on #buyastrangerabook day.

I found this in my scrappy notebook a couple of days ago and wanted to check with you.

Soz if i haven't done it btw.

A lot of this weekend has been spent pulling together the Big Green Books Advent Calendars.

www.biggreenbookshop.com/simon-likes-...

It's been REALLY HARD WORK.
But also LOADS OF FUN.

I love picking books for people.

I'll be posting out a few tomorrow and then the rest on Tuesday (hopefully).

Yeah. I have Alexandru who does my DPD deliveries.

He's awesome too.
November 23, 2025 at 7:37 PM
Before this happened, it's been a 1248 out of 1260 hit rate.

Evri are not bad for me. I do ALWAYS remember the ones that go wrong.

I don't always remember the many hundreds that go right though!

The Royal Mail have lost more parcels for me that Evri

I feel for the drivers.

Low wage, high expectation, no appreciation.

It must be hard.

Evri/Yodel/DPD etc are trying to fulfil our overambitious expectations, and it's the zero hours contracted employees who bear the brunt of the abuse.
November 23, 2025 at 7:31 PM
Anyway, it is what it is.

Evri had been great until this, so I had no complaints.

My local Tesco is tip-top for allowing me to pull off the old switcheroo, and the customers who have been waiting patiently for their books will finally be getting them.

Hurray!

The end.
November 23, 2025 at 7:27 PM
Tesco are ending there contract with Evri this month, so I suspect this is why it's all shite.

The parcels are still at Tesco waiting to be collected, but thanks to top clever skills, the contents of the parcels have been changed, I have retrieved the books from inside & they've now been re-posted.
November 23, 2025 at 7:22 PM
I've spent far too much time recently sorting out a calamitous cock up by Evri.

They haven't picked up 14 of my parcels from the local Tesco since Nov 10th.

It's very tedious.

I've used Evri for certain orders for the last 3 years with no complaints, until now.

Tesco have been great btw.

It's been lively here in Hastings this weekend.

Thanks! Let me have a look. My daughter (17 now) was a massive Japan fan a few years ago, so we did some searches re-this too.

It's the culture side of it she was into (Manga, cosplay, Kawaii etc), so we found a few books specific to this.

But I'll see what else I can find.
