Tomorrow at 7pm at 1200 Postcards bar in Hastings is the book launch for my new novel Ghostdance. Yikes.

You’ll be able to buy copies of both that and my previous novel (plus there will be free postcards with an illustration by @jenniegyllblad.bsky.social).

This is just inconceivably ghoulishly dystopian.
"It is against the TOS to be talked into suicide by our LLM" is possibly the most evil tech bro thing I've ever read

the bbc changed their article from saying 'trans woman' to saying 'biological male who identifies as a woman'.

even if you don't care about trans ppl it should alarm you just how captured the bbc has become.

they will no longer even say 'trans woman'. that's not normal and shows massive bias.

Lately I keep expecting myself to somehow bootstrap myself into feeling better. But as always, we can't personal choice our way out of systemic problems.
There's a pretty great Tumblr post about this:

Space photographer Andrew James McCarthy @ajamesmccarthy.bsky.social has captured many epic images of celestial bodies, but this may be his greatest: a perfectly timed photo of a skydiving friend with the sun behind him (shot w/ equipment revealing great solar detail).

Behold "The Fall of Icarus."

I am beginning to think my mood is solar powered.

I’ve noticed with those sponsored videos online (i.e. ads) the longer they ramble on before getting to the point the more absolutely shit and hideously expensive the eventual product is likely to be.

At Cambridge I worked with @whipplemuseum.bsky.social and @chuarchives.bsky.social to explore why Bacon’s cell ended up in space 🚀 from Grove’s letter we see that the basic principles were the same - tho the composition of the Bacon’s nickel membrane was kept under the official secrets act 🤫
This once-overlooked invention from the 1800s was crucial in getting astronauts to the Moon 🌕

Follow us behind the scenes in the Ri Archives as @katysduncan.bsky.social uncovers the history of the Grove voltaic cell.

Sorry, what now? Personally I tend to think this government suggesting scrapping the right to appeal is potentially an even bigger issue with Lammy's reported proposals than the idiotic idea of getting rid of juries. This would be dangerous territory. #r4today

Wasn't expecting to see my dad on BBC Breakfast TV this morning but apparently it's 50 years since the Protect & Survive PIFs with which he was involved.

(Fact check: He did not help write the Doctor Who theme as the piece claims.)

Seeing how much of the right-wing on Twitter is just bot farms, kinda lays bare how much hate and hatred is a project that needs to be constantly maintained, a fire that needs to be fed all the time lest it go out for a moment, so much time, effort, and resources to keep people angry and hateful.

There are two kinds of coldness.

When the sky's clear (day *or* night) coldness sparkles and is exciting. It buoys you up; wrapping up warm to go out in it feels like your side of the bargain.

When it's cloudy you get the *other* cold.

This doesn't sparkle but is dull like cold lead in the veins.
